Warning: The following story contains information regarding alleged physical violence against children.

COBB COUNTY, Ga. – A 25-year-old babysitter, Nohely Cabrera, is facing multiple child cruelty charges in Cobb County after reports of abuse. The allegations, which include hitting and strangling multiple children under the age of three, stem from a report made by a local children’s hospital about a 10-month-old infant exhibiting severe bruising across his body and face.

Cobb County police received a call from the children’s hospital regarding the baby’s injuries. This report prompted them to look into Cabrera, who had been babysitting multiple children.

According to the arrest warrant, the alleged abuse occurred in Cabrera’s apartment between July and October. The document details several instances of violence, including pushing a child off a couch, hitting another child in the mouth, and using physical force to silence a child by covering their mouth and nose.

Cabrera is now facing multiple charges, including three counts of aggravated assault – strangulation, five counts of first-degree cruelty to children, and one count of battery.

A neighbor of Cabrera’s and the mother of a four-year-old who had been under Cabrera’s care, expressed shock upon learning of the allegations. “I’m actually surprised,” she stated, emphasizing that her daughter loved Cabrera and had always had a positive relationship with her babysitter.

She recounted a recent interaction with Cabrera, noting that over the weekend, she received a text from Cabrera stating that she could no longer babysit her daughter but provided no explanation.

“I got scared, like, did my daughter do something? What’s wrong? Is something wrong with you?” she recalled. This sudden change left her feeling confused and anxious, as Cabrera’s abrupt departure from babysitting raised numerous questions.

Cobb County police have indicated that there are four known victims in this case, but they believe there could be more.

Cabrera currently remains in custody at the Cobb County Jail without bond. Jail records show that she is also being held on an ICE detainer for the Department of Homeland Security, suggesting potential immigration issues that could arise as her case progresses.
