COBB COUNTY, Ga. – Federal agents and local police seized over 1,000 pounds of methamphetamine from a house in Cobb County. This operation marks the second-largest meth bust in the metro Atlanta area within a span of six weeks.
Federal agents, acting on a recent tip, approached the house at 1915 Pair Road, which is in close proximity to a school. Upon their arrival, the agents were immediately hit with a potent odor emanating from the property.
DEA Agent Robert Murphy recounted the scene as they executed the search warrant: “It was in a neighborhood. When our men and women went up there to execute a search warrant, there were two minor girls riding their bikes in front of the house. When we went up, we couldn’t even – we got blown away by the smell. It was so overwhelming when they approached the house. They knew exactly what we were going to find in there.”
Upon entering the home, agents found the environment so hazardous that they needed to don hazmat suits and breathing apparatuses. The chemicals used in the methamphetamine production posed a significant risk, including the danger of explosion.
Murphy explained that much of the meth was in liquid form, indicating it was prepared for further processing into crystal meth. This detail suggests a highly organized operation with a clear intent to distribute a large quantity of the drug.
Inside the residence, authorities arrested two men who held Guatemalan passports and were identified as affiliated with known drug cartels.
The investigation is ongoing.
