On 11/27/2025 at 1727 hours, I, Officer Barry, responded to a call for service of a theft at [1900 BLOCK] S Cobb Dr. Upon my arrival, I began my investigation.
Upon arrival, officers located a subject matching the description of the offender, later identified as Denise Scott. Scott was stopped and taken into custody. When Scott was located, she was holding purse contents, including multiple chargers and an empty knife sheath. While Scott was being pat down for weapons, FTO Killingsworth located a wallet belonging to the victim, [VICTIM #1], inside her pants. Scott was then detained in the back of a patrol vehicle.
I then met with [VICTIM #1]. [VICTIM #1] advised Scott came up to her near the woodline and grabbed her purse, believing [VICTIM #1] owed her. [VICTIM #1] stated an argument over the purse ensued in which Scott grabbed [VICTIM #1] by the hair and threw her to the ground while taking the purse. [VICTIM #1] noted she had a knife in the purse and Scott took the knife and started swinging it in her direction. [VICTIM #1] stated Scott broke [VICTIM #1]’s powerbank during the theft and the rest of the purse contents were scattered across the ground.
During said altercation, an univolved driver, [WITNESS #1], came to the location and saw the fight ensue. [WITNESS #1] called the police and began recording the incident. [WITNESS #1] provided a copy of the video to my county email. In the video, Scott is seen throwing the contents of the purse across the ground and yelling. [WITNESS #1] also stated Scott threw a glass bottle in his direction, placing him in fear. On scene, I observed a broken glass bottle near his vehicle.
I later spoke to [VICTIM #1] who advised she did take the purse, but that she thought it belonged to her. [VICTIM #1] denied being in posession of a knife during the altercation and denied throwing a bottle at [WITNESS #1]. [VICTIM #1] stated she was living in the woodlines and recently relapsed on methamphetamine. [VICTIM #1] stated she was drinking today, prior to the incident.
[SCOTT] was arrested on charges of aggravated assault, snatch robbery, criminal trespass damage, simple battery, and simple assault fear, and obstruction. (25-W-10087)
When I arrived at the jail, Scott became increasingly agitated. When I tried to unbuckle her seatbelt, she put her knee up to push me away and then spit on my face while I was attempting to remove her from the vehicle. I added an additional charge of obstruction to her previous charges. Scott was then taken into the custody of Cobb ADC.
I secured a warrant for the listed charges (25-W-10087).
[End of Narrative]
