On 11/20/2025, at approximately 1910 hours, I, Officer Huey, along with PTO Jenks, was conducting a stationary zone patrol of Wellstar located at 3805 Cherokee Street, when a female flagged us down and advised us of an auto accident. I observed the accident on Cherokee Street just before Jiles Road.

Upon arrival, I made contact with the driver of a white 2015 Nissan Sentra bearing GA tag [REDACTED]. She was identified as [VICTIM #1]. I observed disabling damage to the front of [VICTIM #1]’s vehicle. [VICTIM #1] stated she was driving straight down Cherokee Street towards Bozeman Lake Road when she was suddenly cut off by another vehicle. [VICTIM #1] advised that, before she could brake, she struck the other vehicle. I asked [VICTIM #1] if she had any injuries. She advised that she had pain in her arm. At that time, I requested Metro respond to the scene.

Officer Jenks advised me of the following: Officer Jenks made contact with the driver of a black 2013 Toyota Prius bearing GA tag [REDACTED]. He was identified as Jakari Alexander. I observed disabling damage to the majority of Jakari’s vehicle. As Officer Jenks was walking up to Jakari’s vehicle, she observed Jakari begin to walk away from his car. Jakari was observed to be carrying a small black bag around his person when walking away. Officer Jenks told him to stop multiple times. Jakari continued walking away from Officer Jenks. Officer Jenks instructed Jakari to stop again and Jakari stopped for a brief moment.

Officer Jenks explained to him that he could not leave due to his involvement in an accident. At this point, I walked over to Officer Jenks due to Jakari not listening. While Officer Jenks continued to tell him to stop, Jakari looked at Officer Jenks and attempted to flee the scene. Jakari, after taking a few steps, stumbled, and Officer Jenks was able to grab onto Jakari. Jakari was detained. He was handcuffed behind his back with the cuffs checked for fit and double-locked.

While walking back to the patrol vehicle, Jakari stated his life was over. I searched Jakari for weapons and contraband. While searching Jakari, I found a silver Smith and Wesson Model SD9 VE, bearing serial number: FWW1346 in the black bag he was carrying around his person. A silver Smith and Wesson magazine with 15 bullets was also found in another pocket. Jakari was seat-belted into the rear passenger side of my patrol vehicle.

Officer Papageorge advised me of the following: A witness, identified as [WITNESS #1], advised that he saw the accident occur. [WITNESS #1] advised that [VICTIM #1] was driving straight down Cherokee Street towards Bozeman Lake Road and that Jakari was headed straight on Cherokee Street towards Jiles Road. [WITNESS #1] advised Jakari then attempted to make a left-hand turn into 3815 Cherokee Street. [WITNESS #1] stated this is when both vehicles collided.

I checked Jakari’s information through GCIC/NCIC and I observed his license to be suspended as of 05/26/2024. Jakari was advised that he was officially under arrest and he was read his Miranda Warnings.

Jakari advised he had been Ubering and was planning on making a few more stops before going home. Jakari stated he saw my patrol vehicle sitting at the entrance of Wellstar. He advised he became nervous due to him seeing officers previously stopping people around this area. Jakari did not provide a reason as to why he was pulling into 3815 Cherokee Street aside from him making a left hand turn.

Jakari stated he was waiting for a car to pass and then he was going to make a left hand turn. Jakari advised he did not realize how close the vehicle was before he was struck. Jakari advised that he had hit his head before getting out of his car during the accident, which was why he justified walking away from the accident. Jakari also advised that he did not realize [VICTIM #1] was continuing down Cherokee Street towards Bozeman Lake Road.

Metro responded to the scene, however, neither party was transported. Both vehicles were towed by Kennesaw Wrecker.

I transported Jakari to the Cobb County Adult Detention Center. While at the jail, Jakari was medically denied due to the air bags being deployed in the accident. Jakari was transported to Kennestone Hospital. Jakari refused medical treatment and was then transported back to the Cobb County Adult Detention Center. Jakari was turned over to jail staff along with all his personal belongings and necessary paperwork.

A warrant (25-W-9895), signed by Judge Morgan, was obtained for Jakari for the following charges:

  • Failure To Yield Left Turn, O.C.G.A. 40-6-71
  • Obstruction, O.C.G.A. 16-10-24(a)
  • Hit and Run O.C.G.A. 40-6-270
  • Driving On Suspended License O.C.G.A. 40-5-121

Jakari’s firearm, magazine, and bullets were packaged and submitted into evidence locker 006 for safekeeping.

Jakari was issued a DDS 1150 form and his license was seized.

A GEARS report was completed under this case number.

I conducted a search of the back seats prior to and after the transport of Jakari with negative results for contraband.
