COBB COUNTY, Ga. – On Wednesday, December 18, 2024, sheriff’s deputies booked a man into the Cobb County Detention Center after authorities located him in Sarasota, Florida, and detained him for allegedly stealing shopping carts of golf balls from multiple Target stores.
Martin Sequeria faces charges of theft by shoplifting and racketeering for stealing merchandise from stores in Acworth, Kennesaw, Marietta, and Smyrna and reportedly selling them online in an illegal operation.
A local shopper, Benjamin Alas, stated, “He was probably making a lot of money. It’s expensive for some little balls you’re going to lose anyway.” Alas explained that some brands charge about $50 for a set of 12.
According to the suspect’s arrest warrant, employees spotted Sequeria on security video in the act after noticing the missing inventory. They witnessed him purchasing one small item at a self-checkout lane and then exiting the store with a cart full of golf balls for which he failed to pay.
This case is pending in court.
