The following was taken from a press release distributed by the Marietta Police Department on July 29, 2024:

COBB COUNTY, Ga. – Over the past five weeks there have been a large number of vehicles broken into across Marietta.  Each time, the crew flipped vehicle door handles and if locked, broke a window to force entry.  The incidents happened in random locations, typically one night each week.  In total, over (70) vehicles were entered, with numerous items taken, including three handguns.

While the investigation is still ongoing, we are pleased to announce that detectives have identified and apprehended one of the suspects in the crew.   Nineteen-year-old Christopher Emerson of Marietta, who was out on bond from a previous arrest MPD made for entering autos, was rearrested at his residence Wednesday night July 24th.  Emerson’s new charges are on warrants 24-W-6938 and 24-W-6962.  He is being held without bond at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center facing (18) new felony and (1) new misdemeanor charges.

The investigation is ongoing, and more charges are likely.  Anyone with information related to these incidents, or the crew responsible, is urged to contact Detective Randall at the Marietta Police Department.  You can also contact us via Crimestoppers Greater Atlanta (404-577-8477) if you wish to remain anonymous.
