‘Cup Check’ Leads to Arrests for Battery

Jacob and Bobby Johnson were both arrested on March 23 on charges of simple battery after an incident that occurred at their residence in the 4000 block of Gordon Hwy in Harlem, Georgia.

The following was copied directly from an incident report filed by the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office regarding this incident:

I responded to [REDACTED] Gordon Hwy in reference to domestic violence. The victim #2 (Jacob Johnson) stated that victim #1 (Bobby Johnson) hit him and locked him outside.

Upon my arrival I met with Jacob who stated that Bobby came into his room attempting to wake him up for work. Jacob advised that Bobby told him that if he did not get up that he was going to cup check him. Jacob stated that Bobby then hit him in his genitals. Jacob advised that he got out of bed and started arguing with Bobby that continued outside in the driveway.

Jacob stated that when he was backing up Bobby hit his driver side mirror on his car then locked him out of the home. Jacob stated when he forced his way through the front door he then started to punch Bobby in the face with closed fist until Bobby sat down in a chair.

Bobby stated that he doesn`t know if he hit Jacob in the genitals and that when he attempted to wake Jacob up he got out of bed and pushed him. Bobby stated that he followed Jacob out to his car asking him what was the problem and while talking to him, Jacob backed his car up hitting Bobby with the driver side mirror. Bobby advised that he then locked Jacob out of the home in fear that Jacob was going to hurt him. Bobby stated that when Jacob forced his way back in the home he started punching him.

The involved other [REDACTED] stated that Bobby came into Jacobs`s room poking at him and then hit Jacob in his genitals. [REDACTED] stated that Jacob got up and pushed Bobby and the two started arguing with each other. [REDACTED] advised that she did not see what happen outside but did see Jacob force the door open and punch Bobby. [REDACTED] and Jacob both stated that Bobby had been drinking alcohol since 4pm on 032220.

When I arrived I observed Bobby drinking a can of beer.

Gold Cross responded and treated both parties on scene. Bobby and Jacob were arrested and transported to the Columbia County Detention Center. Bobby and Jacob both were searched for weapons and contraband and placed in a patrol car with seat belts.

Warrants were obtained and signed by Judge Jenereaux and turned over to Columbia County Detention Center.
