I was dispatched to the listed address in reference to a physical domestic. While en route, dispatch advised that the complainant, Ms. [VICTIM #1], reported that Mr. Shayne Coleman, her live-in boyfriend, had punched her in the face and that her nose may have been broken.

Upon arrival, Mr. Coleman was no longer on scene. I made contact with Ms. [VICTIM #1]. I observed visible swelling on the left side of Ms. [VICTIM #1]’s face and on her nose. I also observed a laceration on Ms. [VICTIM #1]’s right hand that was covered in blood. Due to Ms. [VICTIM #1]’s reported injuries and my observations, I requested EMS respond to evaluate her.

While inside the residence, I observed light blood spatter throughout the apartment and broken glass in the master bedroom. Ms. [VICTIM #1] stated that after she sustained her injuries, her mother arrived on scene and began arguing with Mr. Coleman. Ms. [VICTIM #1] also stated her mother was intoxicated and had not been present when the incident occurred. Ms. [VICTIM #1] mother was not on scene when deputies arrived. Based on Ms. [VICTIM #1] statement that her mother was intoxicated, was not present during the incident, and was no longer on scene, I did not attempt to contact Ms. [VICTIM #1] mother.

When asked what occurred between her and Mr. Coleman, Ms. [VICTIM #1] stated she did not want to press charges. During further questioning, Ms. [VICTIM #1] stated she did not want to tell deputies what happened because she did not want Mr. Coleman to go to jail. I continued attempting to ask Ms. [VICTIM #1] about the events leading to her injuries, but Ms. [VICTIM #1] refused to provide further details.

EMS arrived on scene and evaluated Ms. [VICTIM #1]. EMS cleaned and dressed the laceration on Ms. [VICTIM #1]’s right hand. Ms. [VICTIM #1] refused transport by EMS and stated she would call an Uber to transport her to the hospital. I remained on scene until Ms. [VICTIM #1] left the residence without further incident.

While I was on scene, Mr. Coleman contacted CCSO dispatch and stated he was at his parents’ residence in Hephzibah. Dispatch advised Mr. Coleman’s cell phone was plotting on Ironwood Drive. I attempted to contact Mr. Coleman, but he did not answer.

Based on the information available at the time of the call, including Ms. [VICTIM #1]’s refusal to provide a detailed statement and my inability to contact Mr. Coleman for questioning, no criminal charges were sought at that time.

Photographs were taken of Ms. [VICTIM #1]’s injuries, the blood spatter inside the apartment, and the broken glass. The photographs were uploaded to the evidence drive under this case number.
