On September 12th, 2026, at around 2047 hours, I, Deputy David Spurgeon, conducted an investigation in reference to Aggravated Assault which occurred [REDACTED BY AGENCY].

At around 1830 hours, Deputy Ball met with the victim, [REDACTED BY AGENCY]. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] provided video, text conversations and her verbal testimony accusing her ex-husband, Chase Reed, of trying to strike her with his vehicle. Deputy Ball, who was unable to conduct follow-up investigations, provided me the details and I resumed the investigation in to a possible Aggravated Assualt.

At around 2047 hours, I spoke with [REDACTED BY AGENCY] over the phone. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated that Chase came to her house at [REDACTED BY AGENCY] to pick up her daughter, [REDACTED BY AGENCY] but when she started to speak to Chase, she detected an odor of alcohol and observed Chase to be intoxicated. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated that, due to Chase being likely intoxicated, she denied Chase the ability to pick up [REDACTED BY AGENCY] and began to tell Chase to leave her property.

In video, provided by [REDACTED BY AGENCY], [REDACTED BY AGENCY] advises Chase several times to leave her property, holding up her cell phone and advising him that he was being recorded. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated that Chase was drunk very frequently and did not want her daughter getting in the car with him. In one of three videos, Chase begins walking towards, what appears to be, a Chevrolet Malibu hatchback, stopping several times as [REDACTED BY AGENCY] continues telling him to leave her property and that he was being recorded.

Initially, Chase gets in to the driver position of his vehicle but exits shortly after, demanding to see their daughter [REDACTED BY AGENCY] before he left causing [REDACTED BY AGENCY] to step in front of him to prevent him from advancing further on to his property. Chase then turns around, reentering the driver position of his vehicle, pulling the gear shifter down a short distance, then down even further, looking at [REDACTED BY AGENCY]. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] is heard on video stating “I dare you”. As the comment is uttered, Chase accelerates quickly and stops abruptly, just short of striking [REDACTED BY AGENCY], causing her to dodge his attempt in hitting her.

After this short interaction, Chase exits his vehicle once more, stating on video that the action was accidental. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] states on video that she watched him shift to reverse, then to drive, which appeared to be accurate per the recording. Chase then requests to see [REDACTED BY AGENCY] again which was granted by [REDACTED BY AGENCY]. Chase then hugs [REDACTED BY AGENCY] and leaves the property.

At around 2140 hours, I followed up my investigation at [200 BLOCK] Willow Dell Dr., which was Chase’s residence. Upon arrival, I observed the same vehicle, make, model and color, positioned in the driveway. I then knocked on the door and met Chase. While speaking to Chase, his clothing and breath gave off an overwhelming odor of an alcoholic beverage and Chase appeared to have watery eyes and a flush face.

I asked Chase what occurred at [REDACTED BY AGENCY] house earlier in the day. Chase stated that he had already talked to his father about the incident and explained that his action was accidental and that he did not try to hit [REDACTED BY AGENCY] with his vehicle. I asked Chase what the reason for being at [REDACTED BY AGENCY] residence was. Chase stated that he went over to her house to pick up their daughter, [REDACTED BY AGENCY].

I advised Chase that he was under arrest for Aggraved Assault and placed him in handcuffs, double locking each cuff and checking for tightness. I then placed Chase in the back of my marked patrol car and secured his front door to his house. I transported Chase to the Coweta County jail where he was turned over to jail staff without incident.

Victim Notification form completed and submitted to the jail.

Deputy Ball submitted photo and video evidence to evidenc.com
