On 06/11/25 at 2301 hours I, DS Purdon, responded to an unknown problem at [100 BLOCK] Sunny Brook Dr. E911 advised there was a E911 hangup at this residence and they heard a female screaming in the background to “give me phone”. E911 advised that there was a loud crash and then the call ended.

Upon arrival, I met the caller (Ahkeila Ward) walking down the street by the residence. Ward was crying and distraught but I did not notice any bruising or markings on her person. Ward stated that she met up with a friend (Clyde Vaughn) at [100 BLOCK] Sunny Brook Dr and then Vaughn tried to smother her with a pillow. Ward stated that as Vaughn tried to suffocate her with a pillow, she dialed E911. Ward stated that Vaughn then grabbed her phone and threw it in the toilet. Ward stated that her phone was not damaged and it still worked.

Ward stated that she was not in a relationship with Vaughn, he was just a client. Ward stated that she never stayed in the same residence as Vaughn. Ward refused to identify herself and Vaughn while I was interviewing her. Ward then stated that she did not want to press charges and she wanted to leave. Ward was carrying around a clear glass of yellow color alcohol and I could smell a strong odor of alcohol coming from Ward’s breath. Ward became increasingly agitated and she began saying that she did not want to press charges.

SGT Freeland arrived on scene and stoodby with Ward while I relocated to [100 BLOCK] Sunny Brook Dr with DS McBriar. I met Vaughn out on his front porch and he stated that Ward was an escort he paid for sex. Vaughn stated that he met Ward on a sex app (possibly Backpage.com) and he would frequently pay Ward for sex. Vaughn stated that he did not know Ward’s real name, he just knew her by the name of Dity. Vaughn stated that he agreed to pay Ward $1000 for sex on his cash app and then she showed up at his residence.

Vaughn stated that Ward came over to his house, they watched a movie in the living room, and then they moved over to the bedroom to have sex. Vaughn stated that Ward began performing oral sex on him, but then she started going crazy. Vaughn stated that it was like something out of a movie, the level of crazy Ward started acting. Vaughn stated that he grabbed Ward to calm her down, but then she dialed E911. Vaughn stated that he let Ward go and she left the residence.

Vaughn showed me his Cash App where he sent the username Dity $1000 for pizza. I could also see other transactions with women for high dollar amounts in reference for miscellaneous (taco, haircut, shirt, etc.). Vaughn also showed me text messages between himself and Dity on a phone number [REDACTED BY AGENCY]. Vaughn’s text message thread contained a picture of Ward, directions to his residence, and an agreement to sexual activity. There was no mention of monetary exchange for sexual activity in the text message thread between Vaughn and Ward.

SGT Freeland relocated to the residence and I briefed him on the situation. SGT Freeland pointed out that Ward’s version of the story with Vaughn throwing her phone into the toilet made sense because E911 advised there was a loud crash on the initial call. SGT Freeland interviewed Vaughn and then Vaughn admitted to taking Ward’s phone and throwing it into the toilet. SGT Freeland gave me some suggestions on the case and I followed his advice.

I took pictures of the text message thread and Cash App transactions between Vaughn and Ward. Vaughn agreed to fill out a witness statement describing the nature of his relationship with Ward. I read Vaughn his Miranda Warning and Vaughn initially agreed to speak with me. When I asked Vaughn to run me through the incident again, Vaughn stated that the altercation between himself and Ward began because he could not perform sexually. Vaughn then requested to speak with a lawyer and the questioning stopped.

I placed Vaughn under arrest for pandering and interference with an E911 call. I handcuffed him to the rear, double locked, and checked for fit. I used two sets of handcuffs on Vaughn because he had a large frame. I placed Vaughn in the back of my patrol vehicle and SGT Freeland secured Vaughn’s front door.

CPL Weaver and DS McBriar were standing by with Ward by the roadway and then they determined that Ward had a warrant out of ATL (failure to appear out of Brookhaven Police Department). E911 confirmed Ward’s warrant and then Ward was placed into handcuffs. I also charged Ward with prostitution. DS McBriar transported Ward to 560 Greison Trail (CCSO) and released her to the jail’s custody.

I transported Vaughn to 560 Greison Trail (CCSO) and were waiting outside of booking when Vaughn [REDACTED BY AGENCY]. Vaughn had asked me for water [REDACTED BY AGENCY] while I was standing in front of my patrol vehicle with him. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] patrol vehicle.
