On 10/31/2025, I responded to the incident location in reference to a subject being shot at.

Dispatch advised Deputies responding to the scene that a white male in his 30’s, possibly a Dustin Gaddy subject had shot at his neighbor however the neighbor was not hit. Upon my arrival, I met with a white male wearing camouflage overalls standing in front of his mailbox by the name of Dustin Gaddy. Other deputies were on scene prior to my arrival and had already retrieved the firearm from the subject. The firearm is a silver Northern Arms .22 Magnum SN #TE7406.

I asked Dustin what happened to which he explained he was flying his drone on his property when his neighbor [WITNESS #1] shot at his drone. Dustin stated he confronted [WITNESS #1] and told him not to shoot at his drone. Dustin stated that this argument escalated and [WITNESS #1] slapped him in his face. Dustin stated at this moment he felt in fear for his life and pulled out his pistol and fired a shot beside [REDACTED BY AGENCY] head.

I then spoke with [REDACTED BY AGENCY] who told me that he was on the phone with [WITNESS #1] and heard the yelling between the two. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] told me he felt the need to de escalate the situation, [REDACTED BY AGENCY] told me that when he arrived at the incident location, he broke up the altercation and [WITNESS #1] and [REDACTED BY AGENCY] walked away.

[REDACTED BY AGENCY] said he then attempted to walk home the same way he came which caused him to walk in the direction of Dustin. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] told me Dustin then confronted him and slapped him in the face which caused his hat to turn sideways. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] advised out of reaction he slapped Dustin across the face which in return Dustin pulled out a .22 Caliber pistol and pointed it in his face. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] said Dustin pointed it at him and pulled the hammer back then [REDACTED BY AGENCY] moved to the side and as he did that Dustin pulled the trigger on the firearm, firing a round directly beside [REDACTED BY AGENCY] head.

[REDACTED BY AGENCY] told me he was so close he could see “fire” and “smoke”. I confirmed this story by speaking to multiple witnesses who were on scene during this altercation. I had all witnesses fill out a witness statement form which was attached to this report. I also obtained a video that showed moments leading up to the shooting. However, did not show any physical altercation or shooting due to the video cutting out before it occurred.

[REDACTED BY AGENCY] advised he did in fact want to press charges and that he has had issues with Dustin for a plethora number of years. I placed the firearm, spent shell casing and the remainder of bullets that were in the cylinder into evidence.

I placed Dustin in handcuffs and advised him he was being detained then read him Miranda warning to which he replied yes and advised he wanted to talk to me. Dustin advised he was slapped in the face and in result he felt threatened and in fear for his life so he shot next to [REDACTED BY AGENCY] head to defend himself.

I then placed Dustin under arrest and transported him to Coweta County Sheriffs Office without further incident. Dustin was turned over to jail staff and all proper booking paperwork was completed along with a warrantless avadavat was sent to a judge for approval.
