On 09-20-2025 at approximately 0033 hours, I Cpl. Phillips was dispatched to [REDACTED BY AGENCY] Calhoun Street in reference to a hit and run that just occurred. Per the caller there was 4 vehicles on scene that where struck by a silver sedan that fled the scene. Upon my arrival I made contact with all victims on scene.

One of the victims identified as [REDACTED BY AGENCY] was able to provide the tag number for the suspects vehicle which was [REDACTED]. Several other females on scene stated several times that the driver of the vehicle was a black female named Essence. Essence Crawford is the registered owner of the vehicle that the tag was provided for. Several victims requested EMS to evaluate them, but they all refused treatment upon EMS arrival.

All victims stated that Ms. Essence was trying to run over another female when she missed and left her lane of travel striking the 4 vehicles that where parked on the right hand shoulder. The female that was attempted to be ran over was no longer on scene. I ran the tag that was provided and got Ms. Crawford’s address which was [SINGLE DIGIT BLOCK] Ball St Apt [REDACTED]. Once I gathered all needed information for the accident report I left the scene and went to [SINGLE DIGIT BLOCK] ball Street, but was un-able to located the vehicle.

Approximately 30 minutes after going back in service from the call 911 advised me that someone had called reporting that the vehicle was parked in front of [REDACTED BY AGENCY] Calhoun Street, Upon my arrival I located the 2010 Hyundai Sonata with severe front end damage with red paint on the front bumper. One of the vehicles that was hit was red in color. The vehicle was locked and un-occupied. The home owner of [REDACTED BY AGENCY] Calhoun St [REDACTED BY AGENCY].

I then had dispatch start next list towing to tow the vehicle which was Platinum towing. Upon the tow trucks arrival they took possession of the vehicle. A vehicle log was created before it was towed.

On 09-20-2025 at 1800 hours when I returned to duty I was advised that Ms. Crawford came to the police department to report her car stolen. The dispatcher advised me that Ms. Essence stated she was drinking last night and parked the car at [REDACTED BY AGENCY] Calhoun Street. [REDACTED BY AGENCY]. I then went back to Ms. Crawfords home at [SINGLE DIGIT BLOCK] Ball St Apt [REDACTED]. Upon my arrival I made contact with Ms. Crawford. I then told her that she was being placed under arrest for hit and run and failure to maintain lane. Ms. Crawford told me that she was not driving the vehicle when it was wrecked.

I then placed her under arrest with her hands behind her back in handcuffs double locked with the tightness checked. Ofc. McDonald transported Ms. Crawford to the Coweta County jail in a seat belt. Once at the jail I took custody of Ms. Crawford. While asking Ms. Crawford for booking procedure she began talking about the night of the wreck without me asking her any questions. Ms Crawford stated that she was there at [REDACTED BY AGENCY] Calhoun St. She told me that she got into a fight with another girl and as she was leaving she attempted to run the girl over with her car, but she missed her hitting the cars instead. Ms. Crawford admitted all of this as my body camera was recording.

Inv Ms. Crawford was then released to the jails custody. Ms. Essence was arrested for hit and run, and failure to maintain lane. Both charges where completed on a citation.
