On 05/02/26 at 1847 hours I, DS Purdon, responded to a dispute at [REDACTED]. E911 advised that there were multiple parties on scene in a loud verbal altercation and it was escalating. E911 advised there were 2 females and males involved in the argument.
Upon arrival, I saw one black male run into the breezeway of the apartment building and two vehicles attempt to leave quickly. I blocked the road with my patrol vehicle and emergency blue lights. The drivers of the vehicles claimed that they were not involved and other parties on scene verified it. I allowed the two vehicles to leave the scene.
I spoke with one of the parties involved [VICTIM #1] who stated that a random drunk woman (Gabrielle Nichols) was harassing her son [WITNESS #1]. [VICTIM #1] stated that [WITNESS #1] was walking their dog when he texted her to open the door (apartment [REDACTED]). [VICTIM #1] stated that she went outside of her door and Gabrielle started yelling at [WITNESS #1] disrespectfully from the breezeway (common area) of the apartment.
[VICTIM #1] stated that she tried to understand what the issue was with Gabrielle, however she believed that Gabrielle was either drunk or high. [VICTIM #1] stated that Gabrielle kept yelling and then threatened to beat her a*s. [VICTIM #1] stated that Gabrielle then struck a child ([REDACTED BY AGENCY], Gabrielle’s daughter) in the face multiple times in the breezeway. [VICTIM #1] stated that multiple people saw the incident and that her neighbor at [REDACTED] ([WITNESS #2]) had Ring doorbell camera footage.
[WITNESS #1] stated that he was walking his dog when a stranger (Gabrielle) approached him in the parking lot. [WITNESS #1] stated that Gabrielle kept asking him personal questions and then asked him if he would like to meet her 13 year old daughter. [WITNESS #1] stated that he felt disgusted (because he was 19) and then he started hurrying home. [WITNESS #1] stated that Gabrielle became angry and started following him and yelling. [WITNESS #1] stated that Gabrielle was trying to fight his mom [VICTIM #1].
[VICTIM #1]’s daughter [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated that she also witnessed the battery between Gabrielle and [REDACTED BY AGENCY]. [REDACTED] stated that she saw Gabrielle use a closed fist when striking [REDACTED BY AGENCY] in the face. [REDACTED] stated that [REDACTED BY AGENCY] was trying to de-escalate the situation and calm Gabrielle down. [VICTIM #1] and [REDACTED] both agreed to fill out witness statements.
When I spoke with Gabrielle, I could smell a strong odor of alcohol coming from her breath. Gabrielle’s eyes were also bloodshot and her demeanor was confused. Gabrielle stated that she met [WITNESS #1] by being his Uber driver. Gabrielle stated that she gave him a ride to his residence and then she tried to make small talk. Gabrielle stated that [WITNESS #1] was rude and then pulled a mask over his face. Gabrielle stated that she could not remember the rest of the events.
Gabrielle stated that she had one shot of alcohol in her car after dropping off [WITNESS #1]. Gabrielle stated that she did hit [REDACTED BY AGENCY] because [REDACTED BY AGENCY] was trying to calm her down. Gabrielle then kept changing her story. I placed Gabrielle under arrest for FVA battery, handcuffed to the rear, double locked, and checked for fit. I secured Gabrielle in the back of my patrol vehicle while I continued my investigation.
I met with [REDACTED BY AGENCY] grandmother [REDACTED BY AGENCY] who was present while I questioned [REDACTED BY AGENCY] about the entire incident. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated that she was trying to de-escalate the situation between Gabrielle and [WITNESS #1] in the breezeway. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated that she tried to hold Gabrielle back (in order to prevent a physical fight) and then Gabrielle struck her several times.
I could see what appeared to be some swelling on both sides of [REDACTED BY AGENCY] face. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] checked [REDACTED BY AGENCY] for any bruises on the rest of her person and didn’t find any. I took pictures of [REDACTED BY AGENCY] face. I issued and explained a case card to [REDACTED BY AGENCY] and [VICTIM #1].
I spoke with [WITNESS #2] and he agreed to send me Ring video camera footage of the incident to my email. [WITNESS #2] stated that there was alot of camera footage to sort through. [WITNESS #2] showed me a video clip where [REDACTED BY AGENCY] was trying to hold Gabrielle back away from [VICTIM #1] (in the breezeway) and then Gabrielle struck [REDACTED BY AGENCY]. The same clip showed Gabrielle threaten to beat [VICTIM #1]’s a*s and act disorderly.
I transported Gabrielle to 560 Greison Trail (CCSO) and released her to the jail’s custody. I charged Gabrielle with FVA battery, cruelty to children in the 3rd degree, drunk in public, and disorderly conduct. I was not able to find RMS history between Gabrielle and [REDACTED BY AGENCY] at this time. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] was left in the care of [REDACTED BY AGENCY] (grandmother) and I have not contacted DFACs yet at this time.
