On the listed date and time, I DS Swartz was dispatched to a call in reference to a family dispute at [SINGLE DIGIT BLOCK] Sanders Crossing.

Upon arriving to the scene I made contact with a male and female subject. The male was identified as Paul Thomas and the female was identified as Jade Smith. I spoke with Paul first who stated that him and his girlfriend Jade were in a physical and verbal altercation.

Paul said they had been drinking alcohol all night and it start after he did not want to watch a movie with Jade and he went to lay in bed. Paul said the Jade jumped on top of him and hugged him but he said he was not in the mood and rolled away from her.

Paul said then they got into a verbal argument and said he called her “stupid” and “retarded” and that Jade said she was going to go see other guys. Paul said that upset him so he decided to pack up his things and go to the airport to go back to California as that is where he is from.

Paul said then that Jade kept blocking his way and emptying his bag as he was packing it. He said that Jade then got in his face and Paul said the pushed her and she fell in the wall which cause minor damage. Paul said after he pushed her she scratched him in his face just above his lip. Paul then admitted to striking Jade to the back of the head and then choking her with his hands around her neck shortly after pushing her as he said the argument went on.

Paul then said they separated themselves as she left the bedroom and went into the kitchen and he stayed in the room to pack the remainder of his things. Paul said then that Jade returned to the bedroom with a knife in her hand. He said Jade came at him with it and put it up against his ear. Paul said she did not stab or cut him with the knife but did have a small cut on his hand when he grabbed her wrist to push her away again. Paul stated to me that he took the knife from her and put it in the bedroom top dresser drawer. Paul said that was the end of it being physical but continued to be verbal.

I then spoke with Jade who would not tell me much of what happened and only would tell me that her and Paul had a physical altercation. Jade said that they had an argument about Paul leaving and said he pushed her into the wall. She said that as he pushed her he then grabbed her by the neck and choked her.

Jade then showed me her neck which I observed red marks on both sides of her neck. I then asked Jade about the knife which she said she did leave the room for a short time and went to the kitchen. Jade said she did grab a knife and returned to the room but she said she did not go toward Paul or threaten him with the knife.

Myself and Deputy Conley identified both Paul and Jade as predominant aggressors. I then located the knife in the bedroom dresser and seized it. I then placed both Paul and Jade under arrest for Aggravated assault and Simple Battery FVA. They then were both transported to Coweta County Jail where they were turned over to jail staff without issue.

I then took pictures of Paul and Jades injuries at the jail and uploaded the pictures to Evidence.com. The knife was then placed into evidence.
