On April 25, 2025, I, DS Yarbrough, responded to Southtowne Auto at 695 Bullsboro Dr. in response to an Assault. The caller stated that 2 people were fighting at this location. The caller said one of the parties was leaving in a red sedan bearing TN Tag# [REDACTED]. A BOLO was put out for local officers to be on the lookout for the vehicle.
Shortly after the BOLO was put out James was located on Poplar Rd. just before the 44 S ramp.
When I arrived on the scene, I was met by [REDACTED BY AGENCY] who was the victim and works at Southtowne. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated an old friend named James Boykin showed up to his work yelling at him. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated he hadn’t seen James in about 2 years, but James stated [REDACTED BY AGENCY] called the cops on him a couple of days ago advising the cops to pull him over and give him a ticket. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated James continued to tell him he was driving home from the Braves game and received a 400$ ticket and he was told [REDACTED BY AGENCY] called the cops on him, but the family of James stated he has been in Tennessee the last few days.
James stated to [REDACTED BY AGENCY] “If I have to come back I’ll kill you.” [REDACTED BY AGENCY] replied to James stating “he can try now. James approached [REDACTED BY AGENCY] and attempted to hit him with a punch and that is when [REDACTED BY AGENCY] defended himself. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated punches were thrown but the majority of the incident was a wrestling match.
[REDACTED BY AGENCY] did have visible cuts and scrapes to his face, elbows, and knees, and there was blood on his shirt.
James Boykin also had a warrant out of Spalding County for FTA. The warrant was confirmed.
James Boykin was arrested and transported to Coweta County Jail.
The vehicle was turned over to [REDACTED] and [REDACTED] who are family members of the registered owner located in Tennessee.
