On 01/29/2025 at approximately 20:38 hours, I, Ofc. Baez #553 with the city of Newnan Police Department was dispatched to [REDACTED BY AGENCY] Ulsh Park Dr, in regards to assault with injury.

Upon arrival, officers made contact with the victim, [REDACTED BY AGENCY] who was observed to have a [REDACTED BY AGENCY]. Glass fragments were also observed falling from [REDACTED BY AGENCY]’s sweater.

[REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated [REDACTED BY AGENCY], Mr. Javares Copland who suffers from [REDACTED BY AGENCY], was heard upstairs speaking loudly and cursing while she was within the kitchen area. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated that [REDACTED BY AGENCY] normally has these outburst while playing video games so she assumed that was the cause although was unsure if he was having a [REDACTED BY AGENCY].

[REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated she later over heard Mr. Copland coming down the stairs still within a aggressive state shouting “You don’t understand”. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated Mr. Copland then approached her in a aggressive manner while continuing to curse, [REDACTED BY AGENCY] attempted to maintain distance due to the history of Mr. Copland becoming violent toward her however, Mr. Copland closed the distance between them and began striking her in the face with a closed fist. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated at that time she rushed toward the living room to grab her cell phone although Mr. Copland then grabbed a glass vase from a nearby table and struck her with it multiple times until it shattered.

[REDACTED BY AGENCY] was crouched on the sofa at the time of being struck. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated during the incident he threatened to severely hurt her and continued to strike her multiple times. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated she attempted to shield her face from the blows and tried to deflect the strikes. When Mr. Copland was holding the glass vase, she attempted to remove it from his hand but was unsuccessful.

[REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated during the physical altercation, she is unsure whether, while attempting to defend herself, a piece of glass caused a [REDACTED BY AGENCY] of Mr. Coplands [REDACTED BY AGENCY]. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated after viewing the state of which Mr. Copland was currently in and fearing for her life, she saw an opportunity to escape and fled out the rear door of the residence. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated she ran to a near by neighbor where she remained until officers arrived.

When speaking with Mr. Copland, officers observed large amounts of blood throughout his body and a laceration to the [REDACTED BY AGENCY]. When Mr. Copland was asked about his injures, he stated “its nothing I don’t know what happened”.

While further speaking to Mr. Copland he stated this is a reoccurring issue between himself and [REDACTED BY AGENCY]. Mr. Copland stated he has difficulty suppressing his anger regarding incidents that occurred in the past which result to disputes between them both. While Mr. Copland was being evaluated by EMS due to his injuries, he stated while striking [REDACTED BY AGENCY] with a vase, the [REDACTED BY AGENCY] may have occurred when the vase shattered.

Mr. Copland was transported to [REDACTED BY AGENCY] to further assist his injures, later to be transported to Coweta county jail and handed over to staff. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] was evaluated by EMS on scene, to which her injuries were addressed and [REDACTED BY AGENCY] later denied further evaluation.
