On September 9th 2026 at approximately 0801, I was on duty and working in my official capacity as a Deputy assigned to the Patrol Division with the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office. Coweta County 911 advised a male was indecently exposing himself near 3150 East Highway 34, Newnan, Georgia 301265 (Kroger). While enroute Coweta County 911 advised a phsycial description of the male. The male had black hair, wearing black shirt, gray shorts and was walking between the Kroger parking lot and the McDonald’s.

Upon my arrival I could see a male matching the description and walking in the exact area as where the caller described. As I approached the male, he was leaving the parking lot and began walking on Highway 34. I activated my emergency equipment and waved for the male to come to my vehicle. The male crossed the roadway and approached my vehicle.

I asked the male where he was coming from, he advised he had just woken up and was homeless and was leaving the area to go walk. I asked the male if he had pulled his pant down. The male stated he had not pulled his pants down or exposed himself. I returned to my vehicle and asked the complainant via cell phone if they were still in the area and willing to meet with me. The complainant advised they were still on scene and behind the McDonald’s. I explained to the male he was detained and secured his hands with double locked handcuffs. The male identified himself as Jeremy Lawson.

I secured Jeremy in the rear of my vehicle and went to made contact with the complainant. I then met with [WITNESS #1]. [WITNESS #1] advised she was sitting in her vehicle when she saw a male walking through the parking lot. [WITNESS #1] advised the male caught her attention because he was acting suspicious. The male had both his hands in his pants and was “playing with himself”. As the male kept walking, he would squat down between vehicles. [WITNESS #1] advised that at one point the male pulled his pants down to near his knees and his pe*is was exposed while he “played with himself”. [WITNESS #1] advised she clearly saw the male genitals and knew she needed to make a report with Law Enforcement.

[WITNESS #1] also gave an exact description of Jeremy and advised she kept watching him until he left the area and described the direction he left, which is exactly where I found Jeremy. [WITNESS #1] completed a signed statement form detailing the incident. Due to [WITNESS #1] giving a detailed description of the incident, giving an exact description of Jeremy, his exact direction of travel, and the fact I have dealt with Jeremy before and the way she described him walking and squatting down is very common with Jeremy. I determined there was sufficient probable cause for his arrest. I advised Jeremy he was under arrest for indecent exposure and I would transport him to the Coweta County jail. Jeremy still did not confess to exposing himself and only requested he be placed on suicide watch.

I then transported Jeremy to the Coweta County jail without incident. Jeremy was turned over to booking staff and placed on suicide watch. At a later time, I completed a warrant on Jeremy via E File system.
