On April 12, 2026, I, Deputy Witzel, responded to [REDACTED BY AGENCY] in reference to an active dispute involving weapons. I responded in emergency mode with lights and sirens activated due to a reported physical altercation that was actively occurring with a weapon present. While en route, I was advised by Dispatch that the victim was located at Fire Station 5 on Smokey Road.
Upon arrival at Fire Station 5, I made contact with [REDACTED BY AGENCY] to gain an understanding of the situation and determine whether anyone remained at the original incident location. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] advised that her son, Jordan Liggett, was still at the residence actively fighting with her boyfriend, [REDACTED BY AGENCY], and that Jordan was armed with a knife.
I immediately responded to the residence. Upon arrival, I announced my presence and instructed anyone inside to make themselves known. After receiving no response, I conducted a perimeter check of the property and located an open door. Due to the urgent circumstances reported and lack of response, I, along with other units, entered and cleared the residence to ensure no individuals inside were in immediate danger or in need of medical assistance. While on scene, I heard shouting coming from a nearby wooded area.
I made contact with [REDACTED BY AGENCY], who emerged from the woods. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] advised that he and Jordan had been involved in an altercation over a phone, which [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated belonged to him. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] further stated that Jordan had been stealing items from others and had recently been released from jail.
[REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated that during the altercation, Jordan pinned him to the ground and held a silver knife to his throat, threatening to cut him if he did not return the phone. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] advised he was eventually able to break free and fled into the woods to escape.
I then spoke again with [REDACTED BY AGENCY], who stated she had allowed Jordan to stay with her temporarily after his release from jail in an effort to provide a better environment, as he had previously been living in Forsyth where he was involved with drugs and negative influences.
[REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated she recently discovered that Jordan was still engaging in theft and told him to leave the residence. She advised that Jordan refused, grabbed her by the throat, and pushed her to the ground, causing injury. I observed and documented a small red mark on [REDACTED BY AGENCY] neck and a minor bruise on her knee consistent with her statement. Photographs were taken of these injuries.
A drone unit was deployed in an attempt to locate Jordan, but initial efforts were unsuccessful. During the investigation, it was discovered that [REDACTED BY AGENCY] had an active warrant out of Spalding County for a probation violation. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] was placed under arrest.
While transporting [REDACTED BY AGENCY] to the Coweta County Jail, Deputy Smallwood located Jordan walking along the roadway and took him into custody without incident. Deputy Smallwood also recovered the knife allegedly used during the incident and secured it as evidence. Deputy Smallwood transported Jordan to the Coweta County Jail, where I met with him and documented visible injuries to his face. Jordan stated that [REDACTED BY AGENCY] struck him in the face with brass knuckles during the altercation.
Based on the investigation, I completed warrantless affidavits for Jordan Liggett for the following charges: Aggravated Assault, False Imprisonment and Battery (Family Violence).
