On 9/9/2025 at approximately 1917 hours, I Inv. Beaner with the [REDACTED BY AGENCY] was dispatched to [REDACTED BY AGENCY] Hill St, Newnan GA, 30263 in reference to a subject armed.

When Cpl. Dalton arrived on scene at [REDACTED BY AGENCY] Hill St. she was met by the victims [REDACTED BY AGENCY] and [REDACTED BY AGENCY] who stated they were at the area of [REDACTED BY AGENCY] Hatcher St, Newnan GA, 30263 at the playground seated on the steps near the basketball court where they were shot at by who they stated was [REDACTED BY AGENCY] and Kaylee Johnson who reside at [REDACTED BY AGENCY] Paul St, Newnan GA, 30263. During Cpl. Dalton’s interview with [REDACTED BY AGENCY] he stated that he physically saw [REDACTED BY AGENCY] shooting a firearm from the front yard of [REDACTED BY AGENCY] Paul St. The victims continued by stating one of the gunshots hit the concrete stairway at the playground. I then arrived at [REDACTED BY AGENCY] Paul St. along with Inv. Johnson, Inv. Fore, Cpl. Wade, and Ofc. Bingham where all of the subjects inside of the home were detained (Cedrick Johnson, David Brooks, [REDACTED BY AGENCY], [REDACTED BY AGENCY], [REDACTED BY AGENCY], Kaylee Johnson, [REDACTED BY AGENCY] and [REDACTED BY AGENCY]

While attempting to conduct an investigation, David Brooks, Kaylee Johnson, and Joshua Sherman were screaming profanities while a child under the age of 14 was present without provocation. Inv. Fore, Ofc. Bingham and I then conducted a protective sweep of the residence of [REDACTED BY AGENCY] Paul St. due to the odor of marijuana coming from the home as well as to look for any more potential offenders that could cause harm to someone or destroy evidence. While conducting a protective sweep, Inv. Fore found a small child inside of the living room where he then escorted the child outside, the protective sweep continued where I saw in plain view inside of one of the bedrooms what I believed to be marijuana roaches. Additionally, five 9mm caliber shell casings were found on the right side of the home in the front yard which is in the line of sight of where the victims stated they were located during the shooting. After completing the protective sweep, Cpl. Wade and I went back to the Newnan Police Department to get a search warrant for the residence.

Once the search warrant was signed, Cpl. Wade and I then went back to the scene to begin searching the residence. Inv. Fore interviewed [REDACTED BY AGENCY] during the search warrant where [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated he observed Joshua Sherman and David Brooks walk outside the [REDACTED BY AGENCY] Paul Street as Joshua Sherman stated he was going to test fire his gun. Once outside the house [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated he heard the gunshots a few moments later, and saw Joshua and David come back inside of the house, and go into Kaylee Johnson’s bedroom. Additional witnesses inside of the house stated that Joshua was in Kaylee’s bedroom throughout the day. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] also stated that he overheard David mention that he wishes he had brought his gun.

Let it be known that while still on scene, Cpl. Wade spoke with Cedrick Johnson about the firearms he owns inside of the home. It was then that Cedrick stated he does not own a black Glock handgun.

Based on the facts mentioned above as well as witness statements that Joshua Sherman was observed exiting the home with a firearm moments before the shooting, Joshua Sherman was charged with Aggravated Assault and Disorderly Conduct.

Cedrick Johnson was charged with a Newnan City Ordinance 14-101 Disorderly House. He was cited and then released.
