On 10/20/2025 at approximately 0816, I was dispatched to the location of 50 Hampton Way, the Hampton Inn, in reference to a non family dispute.

Upon my arrival, I came into contact with a female individual, identified as Laura Nelson, who was outside in front of the hotel yelling at another guest. I then tried to get some information from Ms. Nelson but I could barely understand her due to her being extremely upset. I asked Ms. Nelson for her ID, in which she provided me with her driver license.

A short while later, the manager of the hotel, identified as [REDACTED BY AGENCY] came out of the hotel to speak with me, and that’s when Ms. Nelson began yelling at [REDACTED BY AGENCY]. Again, I asked Ms. Nelson to calm down. Ms. Nelson then started saying that she needs to go for a walk. I asked her to stay where she was and not to leave while I was conducting my investigation.

When I turned to talk with [REDACTED BY AGENCY] Ms. Nelson began to walk off. I then approached Ms. Nelson and placed her under arrest with her hands handcuffed behind her back which were double locked and checked for proper fit. Cpl Dalton then conducted a search on her persons before I placed Ms. Nelson in the rear of my patrol vehicle for her transportation to Coweta County Jail.

Once at the jail, I conducted an additional search on her persons. While conducting a search of Ms. Nelson’s person, the odor of a burned green leafy substance coming from her persons. When asked if she had any on her persons, she stated that she didn’t and that it as upstairs in her hotel room.

Before leaving, the male individual that Ms. Nelson was yelling at upon my arrival, identified as [REDACTED BY AGENCY] informed me that Ms. Nelson was acting the way she was since last night. He stated that two deputies came out there for her behavior and this morning, she entered the hotel lobby and began yelling random things out loud. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated that after Ms. Nelson began yelling things out loud, she attempted to enter the elevator, where [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stopped her and asked her to leave, causing Ms. Nelson to become even more upset.

[REDACTED BY AGENCY] informed me that she would like Ms. Nelson to be trespassed from the location. She stated that she would pack up Ms. Nelson’s items from inside her hotel room and sit them downstairs in the lobby where she could come get them with an escort from Newnan PD. I then returned to my patrol car and informed Ms. Nelson of her being trespassed from Hampton Inn and when she wanted to go get her property that she’ll have to call Newnan PD to escort her.

Once in the jail, the detention officer who conducted a search on Ms. Nelson’s person found a pre-rolled blunt in her purse sleeve that had the odor of a burned green leafy substance. Ms. Nelson was charged with VGCSA Schedule ll and disorderly conduct.
