COWETA COUNTY, Ga. – In a span of less than two hours, a Coweta County jury found a 23-year-old man accused of shooting and killing three individuals during a robbery at a gun range on April 8, 2022, guilty on all counts. Immediately following the verdict, Judge Travis Sakrison sentenced Jacob Christian Muse to life in prison without parole for taking the lives of Tommy Hawk (75), Evelyn Hawk (75), and Luke Hawk (17).
The three victims, who were identified as the store owner, his wife, and their grandson, were found dead inside Lock Stock & Barrel Shooting Range, the family’s business, in Grantville. Approximately 40 firearms and a security camera were taken, with the guns later found at the suspect’s home in College Park.
Muse was found guilty of armed robbery, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and three counts each of aggravated assault, aggravated battery, felony murder, and malice murder.
Prosecutors said Muse was the gunman who robbed the Lock Stock & Barrel range store after the business had closed. All three victims had been shot multiple times.
After sentencing, Judge Sakrison said, “What I’ve seen is selfish and cowardly and mean and lacking in any remorse, so I don’t have any other option than to try to craft a sentence that will hopefully protect our communities and families and businesses.”
The gun range is now permanently closed.
