On 03/10/2026 at 2357 I was dispatched to [100 BLOCK] Parkway North apt [REDACTED BY AGENCY] in reference to an assault with injuries. Before arriving, 911 dispatch informed myself and other responding officers that Marquis Ragland struck [REDACTED BY AGENCY] and fled the scene when he realized she was calling 911.
Upon arrival, Ofc. Townsend made visual on Ragland, to which Ragland began running from Ofc. Townsend. I drove towards the rear of the apartment complex and could see Ragland running up the hill toward Target. While other officers continued to locate Ragland, I made contact with the victim, [REDACTED BY AGENCY].
[REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated that Ragland had locked her out of her apartment, and had to contact an employee from the apartment complex to get a spare key. After getting the key and going inside, Ragland began yelling at [REDACTED BY AGENCY]. Ragland was intoxicated and there were several bottles of alcohol he had drank.
[REDACTED BY AGENCY] began arguing with Ragland and she threw several bottles and food at the walls. [REDACTED] then stated that was when Ragland began punching [REDACTED BY AGENCY] repeatedly in the face, [REDACTED BY AGENCY] and [REDACTED BY AGENCY]. There was significant blood on the shirt she was wearing and I could see one of her [REDACTED BY AGENCY]. A microwave’s glass was also broken, and there were household items all over the floor and food thrown all over the walls.
[REDACTED BY AGENCY] then stated that Ragland had taken her phone but noticed she had her apple watch and was able to contact 911. After noticiing she called, he threw her phone off the third floor behind the apartment building and then left the scene. Ofc. Townsend located Ragland and a footchase began.
While speaking with [REDACTED BY AGENCY] she informed me that Ragland may have gone to his friend [REDACTED BY AGENCY] apartment to hide in apartment [REDACTED BY AGENCY]. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] opened the door and allowed other officers inside to arrest Ragland. Ragland was handcuffed and checked for proper fit. Ragland was then transported to the Coweta County Jail by Ofc Nix. Myself and [REDACTED BY AGENCY] were able to locate her phone via apple watch. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] was checked by EMS but refused transport to the hospital.
A case card was provided to [REDACTED BY AGENCY] a Victim’s Rights Guide was given as well.
