On 11/09/2025 at approximately 2008 hours, I Ofc. Lyles was dispatched to 24 Bullsboro Dr in reference to a suspicious subject. The caller advised that a male was on scene drinking and stating he was going to drive. The caller stated there was a small child who was left alone in the vehicle while the male was drinking.
Upon arrival, I made contact with a Black male identified as Damien Ware next to a white Dodge hatchback. Inside the hatchback was a young child in a car seat. The vehicle was running. After speaking with Sgt. Warren, it was discovered that Mr. Ware left the child in the vehicle and bought a beer, then went behind a dumpster to drink. The beer was located behind the dumpster in a brown bag, almost completely empty. Mr. Ware stated he had been drinking and that it was his beer.
At this time, Mr. Ware stated that he was here with a female and was “just watching the child.” Mr. Ware had a strong odor of alcoholic beverage coming from his breath and was unable to fully answer any questions.
Sgt. Warren made contact with the female inside the gas station and had her come outside. The female was identified as Myesha Ball. Ms. Ball stated she left the child in the company of Mr. Ware. Ms. Ball stated she knows Mr. Ware [REDACTED BY AGENCY] and knows Mr. Ware has had [REDACTED BY AGENCY]. Ms. Ball stated she did not realize that Mr. Ware was going to leave the child and drink; however, she stated she knew he had the beer.
At this time, I advised Mr. Ware that I was going to place him in handcuffs, to which he immediately pulled away and began to jerk away and tense his arms, not allowing his arms to be freely placed behind his back. Units eventually gained control and placed Mr. Ware in handcuffs. Mr. Ware was advised that he was under arrest at this time. The handcuffs were inspected for proper fit and double locked.
Mr. Ware was searched incident to arrest and placed into the rear of Lt. McNamaras’ patrol vehicle, where he was transported to Coweta County Jail. Mr. Ware was searched again at the jail prior to entering booking.
Sgt. Warren advised that the store employee stated that Ms. Ball had been inside at the slot machines for over an hour. Ms. Ball was placed under arrest at this time and handcuffed behind the back. The handcuffs were inspected to ensure a proper fit. Ms. Ball was placed in the rear of Ofc. Rucks patrol vehicle and was transported to Coweta County Jail.
Both were placed under arrest: Mr. Ware for public drunkenness and Ms. Ball for reckless conduct. All property of Mr. Ware was placed in the vehicle by Sgt. Warren.
