On 04-19-2022 at approximately 2243 hours while patrolling Hospital Rd in Coweta County in a marked patrol vehicle I observed a white Saab bearing Georgia tag #[REDACTED] with the tag light out. From my training, knowledge and experience I could smell the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. This was the only vehicle in front of me while traveling north bound on Hospital Rd.

I activated my emergency lights and initiated a traffic stop. Upon making contact with the vehicle I could see white smoking coming from the passenger window of the vehicle. From my training, knowledge and experience I smelled the odor of marijuana.

I advised the driver, Paul Watson the reason for the stop. I asked him if he had any marijuana and he stated there was a little on the floorboard area of the vehicle. I had Paul exit the vehicle that’s when he advised me of a scale being in the vehicle.

I conducted a search of the vehicle, under the driver seat was a taurus G2C 9mm handgun. In the back seat there was a small brown book bag with a scale and next to it was a rice cake half eaten. I asked him if the rice cake hand any THC oil baked into in and he stated “yes, a friend gave it to him a while back”.

I also located approximately 20-30 clear sandwich bags in the back seat of the vehicle. On the back passenger floorboard of the vehicle I located a brown travel bag. In the brown travel bag was approximately 3 clear sandwich bags with green leafy substance inside. From my training, knowledge and experience I suspected the green leafy substance to be marijuana.

I was able to look at the scale and see green leafy substance on it. From my training, knowledge and experience I suspected it to be marijuana.

I showed Paul my findings, the scale, multiple bags of suspected marijuana and the additional pack of clear empty sandwich bags and explained to him from my training, knowledge and experience it was consistent with the sale of narcotics.

The vehicle was impounded. Paul was transported to Coweta County jail and turned over to jail staff.

All evidence was entered into an evidence locker and to be submitted to the GBI crime lab for testing.

BWC was activated.

Nothing further to report at this time.
