COWETA COUNTY, Ga. – Authorities are investigating a double homicide after two elderly people were found dead inside a Coweta County home Thursday night.

Deputies responded to a residence on Little Road around 8 p.m. for what was initially reported as an “unknown problem.” Upon arrival, they discovered two individuals deceased inside the home.

A suspect remained at the scene and was taken into custody, according to the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office. The suspect was later identified as Brandon Christopher Jones.
Jones, 25, allegedly killed an 82-year-old woman and a 79-year-old woman. According to the sheriff’s office, Jones was related to the women and was living with them at the time of the deaths

Deputies said a regional mental health team had been at the home on the 100 block of Little Road earlier in the day. Around 8 p.m., a deputy responded to another call and discovered the two women dead.

Jones allegedly made statements to law enforcement at the scene indicating that he had killed the women. The sheriff’s office said the women’s injuries suggested a physical assault.

Jones was taken into custody and is being held at the Coweta County Jail. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has been called in to assist with the case. Deputies remained on Little Road throughout the night, blocking access to the area as they processed the scene.

The Coweta County Sheriff’s Office is expected to release additional information as the investigation continues.
