On 6 August 2025, at approximately 1757 hours, I, Deputy Hatchett with the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the area of [3300 BLOCK] Boy Scout Road Byron, Georgia 31008 in reference to an auto accident with no injuries.

While en route to the location, Headquarters notified me that the vehicle that rear ended the truck has fled the scene. I then arrived on scene to see a debris field and a silver Dodge Ram 3500 with Georgia tag [REDACTED] pulling a trailer. The vehicle and trailer were off the road. I exited my vehicle and spoke with [VICTIM #1] [W/M DOB: [REDACTED BY AGENCY]/1988] [VICTIM #1] stated he was about to pull into his driveway when a black Nissan vehicle ran into the back of his trailer. [VICTIM #1] got out of the vehicle and checked on the other driver. [VICTIM #1] stated that he and the other driver spoke for a couple of minutes when the other driver got a phone call from his wife. [VICTIM #1] stated it smelled like the other driver had been drinking and that he could hear his wife say on the phone “You know you have been drinking.” [VICTIM #1] stated the other driver got into his vehicle and left the scene.

Headquarters then advised me that the other vehicle was seen at the Sugar Bear on Boy Scout Road entering Bibb County. Headquarters also advised that they have the tag number. I continued working the scene when Headquarters advised the vehicle was on Boy Scout Road stuck in a ditch blocking traffic. I then went to the Bibb County Line and rode all the way to the Peach County Line but did not see a vehicle matching the description given. Then a driver flagged me down and stated that the vehicle was on the other side of the Bibb County line. I then went to the bridge at Boy Scout Road and saw a black vehicle with a crushed in front end.

I exited my marked unit and bystanders pointed to a black male and advised he was the person driving. While walking to the black male, I noticed he was having a hard time standing up straight. I asked what he was doing while I was approaching him, to which he stated “I was going to pick up my sister.” I noticed he was slurring his words and when I got to him I smelled a very heavy alcohol smell emitting from his person. I placed his hands behind his back and advised him he was being detained until further investigation. I then escorted him to my vehicle where he was identified as Codrick Landry [B/M DOB: [REDACTED BY AGENCY]/1994]

Codrick stated multiple times he had not been drinking. Deputy Tisdale arrived on scene as I spoke with some bystanders who stated Codrick pulled into a driveway and the bystander advised he needed to leave so when he began backing out of the driveway, the vehicle’s back end went into a ditch and Codrick got stuck. I then went to my marked patrol car and read implied consent to which Codrick refused any state administered test. I then placed Codrick under arrest and transported him to the Crawford County Jail while Deputy Tisdale stood by with the vehicle.

I asked Headquarters to start an ambulance to the jail to check over Codrick before entering the jail. EMS cleared Codrick and he was turned over to jail staff.
