On 09/06/2025, I responded in normal mode to the 2700-Blk of Westgate Dr/Hawthorne Dr in reference to а hit-and-run accident.

Upon arrival, contact was made with [VICTIM #1], who advised that her vehicle, a green 2021 Toyota Camry (GA TAG# [REDACTED]), had been struck by a tan four-door truck. [VICTIM #1] stated she was traveling westbound on Westgate Dr when the vehicle ran the stop sign at Westgate Dr/Hawthorne Dr and struck the rear driver’s side of her vehicle. [VICTIM #1] advised she could not get a clear view of the driver due to the vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed. She further stated the vehicle fled eastbound on Westgate Dr after the collision.

A witness on scene advised they observed the accident and obtained the suspect vehicle’s tag. The witness stated the vehicle turned left into Shoreham Apartments off Dawson Rd and provided GA TAG# [REDACTED]. A GCIC/NCIC check revealed the tag returned to a beige 2007 Ford Explorer registered to Abbigail Strickland, matching the suspect vehicle’s description.

Sgt. Jones responded to Shoreham Apartments ([2000 BLOCK] Dawson Rd) and located the vehicle displaying GA TAG# [REDACTED] parked at [2200 BLOCK] Champaigne Ln. He observed fresh front-end damage consistent with [VICTIM #1]’s account. Sgt. Jones made contact with the driver, identified as Abbigail Strickland, who admitted she had been driving but claimed she did not recall hitting another vehicle.

I arrived at [2200 BLOCK] Champaigne Ln Apt [REDACTED], where Sgt. Jones had already read Strickland her Miranda Rights and Implied Consent. I observed the suspect vehicle with front-end damage and took photographs, which were placed into evidence locker #02 at 201 W Oglethorpe Blvd.

Strickland was placed in the rear of my patrol vehicle and transported to Dougherty County Jail incident to arrest. She submitted to the state-administered breath test, which yielded a BAC of 0.190.

Upon arrival at the jail, I secured my duty weapon in the trunk of my patrol vehicle. A pre- and post-transport search of the vehicle yielded negative results.

Strickland was cited for DUI-Less Safe (Citation #G0053020) and Hit and Run (Citation #G0053021). A DDS 1205 form was also completed.

Due to Ptl. Jackson and Sgt. Jones initially making contact with Strickland prior to my arrival, and already having her in custody and questioning her, I had little to no direct contact with Strickland.

Sgt. Jones and Lt. Hausman were notified and responded on scene. A computer check of all involved parties yielded negative results.

This case was cleared by arrest.
