DOUGHERTY COUNTY, Ga. – On January 8, 2024, Albany Police officers arrested a 30-year-old Albany man, Qwantavies Antwan Tyler, and charged him with three counts of child molestation. On December 29, 2023, his 13-year-old niece told her mother that Tyler had been touching her sexually for two years.
The victim’s mother explained to the officers that Tyler had called her while she was at work to tell her that her daughter “was being disrespectful and throwing things around in the house.” Her daughter later said that she threw the items and her “irate behavior stemmed from the inappropriate touching.”
She stated that the “reason Tyler called her mother is because he was touching her in her breast and vagina area tonight, and she had had enough.” She told her mother that Tyler had “rubbed on her private area before and put his penis on her lower stomach.”
She said that on another occasion, about one month prior, Tyler entered her bedroom and her bed and “started rubbing on her private area.” She kept moving his hand away, but he continued.
After he stopped touching her, “he took her shorts and underwear off, exposing her lower body fully.” She “fought Tyler to keep her clothing on, but he overpowered her.”
He “took his clothes off, exposing his entire lower body” and “attempted several times to insert his penis inside of her vagina.” She said he “was unsuccessful due to all the commotion alerting her mother, who came in the room.”
She said he hid behind the door, “concealing himself.” The victim’s cousin said she “was in the room when Tyler attempted to penetrate [the victim’s] vaginal region.”
When she asked him what he was doing in the room, he said he was “just lying with [her], nothing more.” Her cousin told the officers she “knew Tyler was touching [the victim] because he had done this before.”
The victim detailed another incident in which he pulled down his pants and put his penis in her face when they were home alone. She remembered “a white substance oozing out of his penis.”
She said that “some of the white substance got on the shorts she had on at that time and her left arm.” Her mother said she would search for the shorts to submit as evidence.
The victim explained that she did not tell anyone sooner because Tyler told her “she would go to jail because no one would believe her.” She added that he “told her that if anyone finds out about them, he would kill her.”
The victim “seemed very uneasy while talking to police. [She] could be seen crying profusely and holding on to her mother for extended periods of time” during the interview.
The officers called Tyler’s phone, but he did not answer. They noted, “Tyler has a history of being aroused by younger females.” One officer remembered responding “to a disorderly conduct last month involving him and his 18-year-old girlfriend.”
DFCS was notified of this incident, and the case remains active.

On 12/29/2023 I Ptl. T. Austin responded to [80 BLOCK] Morningside Dr for Child Molestation. Upon arrival contact was made with [WITNESS #1] the mother of [REDACTED BY AGENCY]. [WITNESS #1] advised that her daughter [REDACTED BY AGENCY] has been getting touched sexually by her uncle Qwantavious Tyler. [WITNESS #1] explained that she got a call from Tyler tonight stating that [REDACTED BY AGENCY] was being disrespectful and throwing things around in the house. [WITNESS #1] advised she was at work at this time but came home when Tyler told her what was going on.
[WITNESS #1] stated that when she got home [REDACTED BY AGENCY] came running to her stating that she has been getting sexually touched by Tyler. [WITNESS #1] explained that [REDACTED BY AGENCY] told her that this has been going on since she was 11 years old (for 2 years). [WITNESS #1] told police [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated that Tyler has rubbed on her private area before and put his p*nis on her lower stomach.
[WITNESS #1] explained that [REDACTED BY AGENCY] told her that about a month ago Tyler came into her room one night when her door was open. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] explained that after Tyler entered he got into her bed and started rubbing on her private area. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated that she would move his hand away as if she was still sleeping but Tyler continued. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] explained that after Tyler stopped touching on her private area he took her shorts and underwear off exposing her lower body fully.
[REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated she fought Tyler to keep her clothing on but he over powered her. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] advised that Tyler took his clothes off exposing his entire lower body. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] advised that Tyler attempted several times to insert his p*nis inside of her vag*na. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated that Tyler was unsuccessful due to all the commotion alerting her mother who came in the room. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] advised that Tyler hid behind the bedroom door concealing himself.
[REDACTED BY AGENCY] cousin [REDACTED BY AGENCY] advised that she was in the room when Tyler attempted to penetrate [REDACTED BY AGENCY] vag*nal region. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated she asked Tyler what he was doing in their room, to which Tyler responded by saying he is just laying with [REDACTED BY AGENCY] nothing more. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] advised that she knew Tyler was touching [REDACTED BY AGENCY] because he had done this before.
[REDACTED BY AGENCY] advised this has gone on for the past two years. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] advised that she is not sure of a time table but another major incident occurred some time this year. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] advised that while she was home alone with Tyler he pulled down his pants and put his p*nis in her face while they both were in the living room. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] advised she remembers a white substance oozing out of his p*nis. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] advised that some of the white substance got on the shorts she had on at that time and her left arm. [WITNESS #1] advised that she will look for the clothing [REDACTED BY AGENCY] had on and turn them over to police as soon as possible.
[REDACTED BY AGENCY] advised that she did not tell anyone sooner due to Tyler telling her that she would go to jail because no one would believe her. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] explained that Tyler told her that if anyone finds out about them he would kill her.

Tyler was not on scene for police contact at this time. I canvassed the area for Tyler and called his phone number both resulted negative. Tyler was wearing a cream colored sweatsuit at this time (2355 hours). Tyler stands at around 6 feet, Tyler is dark in complexion with a slender build. Tyler has locs in his hair that he has parted into 4 different sections. Tyler has a history of being aroused by younger females. I responded to a disorderly conduct last month involving him and his 18 year old girlfriend.
