Dougherty County (January 16, 2023) – A nurse called the authorities to report a rape after treating a 79-year-old woman who told her she had been enduring body aches from a sexual assault. Albany Police Department officers arrived, and the victim stated that her son-in-law had disconnected the security cameras in the main bedroom and raped her in the middle of the night while his wife was out of town.

The victim explained that her daughter and son-in-law, Victor Washington, bought her house after her husband’s passing and had started moving in. It was not unusual for her to spend the night there, and she would typically sleep in the main bedroom with her daughter while Washington slept on the couch in the den.

She cooked dinner, and after cleaning the kitchen, she took a shower. Once dressed, Washington offered her the main bedroom, but she declined and opted for the couch. Later in the night, she heard dogs barking and Washington calling her to the bedroom. As she went to see why he was calling her, she noticed that the security monitors, which normally always displayed live footage, all bore black screens.

Details of the assault have been redacted from the police report to protect the victim in this case.

Officers located Washington and arrested him for rape on January 25. This case is active and is currently pending in court.
