On 12/04/2022 at approx. 0538 hours, I, Ptl. Harris, responded in normal patrol mode to [600 BLOCK] Willard Ave in reference to a stabbing injury.
Upon arrival, contact was made with a male who was identified as [VICTIM #1] who stated his girlfriend, Alesha Brown, cut his throat. [VICTIM #1] stated he and Brown were in a verbal altercation earlier in the day because his child’s mother (unknown name) came to their home unannounced to pick up his daughter and son. [VICTIM #1] stated while they were arguing, he decided to leave the location to calm down. [VICTIM #1] stated he called his mother and child’s mother while he was walking away from the residence. [VICTIM #1] stated he returned a short while later and attempted to walk through the front door, but was unable to do so. [VICTIM #1] stated the front door was locked, so he decided to open the window on the east side of the residence to gain entry.
[VICTIM #1] stated after he was able to get inside of the residence, Brown was laying on the sofa in the living room. [VICTIM #1] stated Brown was talking to him, but he sensed that she was still agitated about the argument from earlier. [VICTIM #1] stated he walked into their bedroom that is adjacent to the living room. [VICTIM #1] stated he barricaded the door with the dresser because she was trying to argue with him and he wanted to diffuse the situation. [VICTIM #1] stated Brown pushed against the door and eventually move the dresser to gain entry into the room. [VICTIM #1] stated they began to argue inside of the room and eventually they went into the living room.
[VICTIM #1] stated they began arguing more and he grabbed Brown’s shirt to tell her to calm down. [VICTIM #1] stated Brown grabbed his shirt and continued arguing. [VICTIM #1] stated he started talking after Brown grabbed his shirt and he started gasping for air. [VICTIM #1] stated he looked down and noticed blood on his shirt. [VICTIM #1] stated he let Brown go and noticed blood on his hands as well. I asked Brown if he knows what Brown stabbed her with to which he stated no. [VICTIM #1] stated it happened so fast and because they were both arguing with each other, he never looked to see if she had anything in her hands. [VICTIM #1] stated Brown then left the location, but continued to yell while walking east on Willard Ave. [VICTIM #1] stated he does not know where else Brown could have gone after walking away.
Med Unit 4 arrived on scene and assessed [VICTIM #1]’ injuries. I observed a small puncture wound on the left side of his neck. I observed blood on both of [VICTIM #1]’ hands and on the front of his shirt. Ptl. Sims arrived on scene and we cleared the residence to ensure no one was still inside of the home. Once I opened the door, I observed blood in the door way of the residence. After clearing the residence, I observed more blood throughout the living room. I observed small amounts of blood near the sofa that was closest to the front door. I observed blood in the middle of the living room. Photos were taken of the living room and [VICTIM #1]’ wounds. All photos were logged into Albany Police Department Property and Evidence Locker #02.
Sgt. Dorminy was notified and responded to the scene. Cpl. Bryant was notified and responded to the scene. I was unable to locate the weapon that was used in this incident. I was unable to make contact with Brown in reference to this incident.
The nature of this case has been changed to Aggravated Assault- Cutting Tool. This case remains active and will be forwarded to Cpl. Bryant with Investigations.
