I, Ptl Loud responded in normal mode to [2000 BLOCK] Lafayette Cr Apt [REDACTED] (Shoreham Apartments) in reference to a hit and run.
Upon arrival, I made contact with [VICTIM #1] who stated she went inside her apartment ([2000 BLOCK] [REDACTED]) at approximately 1330 hours for her lunch break. [VICTIM #1] stated she saw a white van nearby the vehicle. She stated she heard a loud boom sound and came outside and observed damages to the back right side of her 2016 black Mercedes Mercedes-Benz displaying FL tag [REDACTED]. [VICTIM #1] stated she also saw the white van drive off through the parking lot traveling westbound and hit the nearby dumpster as well.
I observed white transfer paint and minor damages to the back bumper of [VICTIM #1]’s vehicle. I canvassed the nearby area for cameras and witnesses with no results. However, I did get in contact with the property manager, [REDACTED], who advised me she has camera footage and will allow me to view it on the next following business day. I ran [VICTIM #1]’s vehicle tag through NCIC/GCIC and it showed registered to [REDACTED] with valid registration and insurance. I also ran [VICTIM #1]’s name through NCIC/GCIC for active warrants with negative results.
A follow up will be completed to watch camera footage of this incident.
