As I (Ptl. Mcdlock) was patrolling the area of W Lincoln Ave and S McKinley St. I witnessed a 2013 red Chevy Camaro Ga Tag [REDACTED] traveling south on S McKinley St. where the speed limit is 30 mph.
As I saw the vehicle passing me in front of my patrol vehicle going south on S McKinley St, going at an extreme high rated speed over the speed limit of the residential area at this time, I was traveling East on S McKinley St. Based on my training on how to visually estimate a vehicle’s speed it seemed the red Chevy Camaro was going about 60 mph.
While I was turning south on S McKinley St I activated my emergency lights. At this time I observed the red Camaro turning west on W Gordon Ave. Upon reaching the intersection of S McKinley St and W Gordon Ave, I observed the vehicle to be several blocks ahead of me. At this time I observed the red Camaro with its lights off continuing to drive recklessly in a residential area.
I attempted to catch up to the vehicle in case the driver did not hear my sirens or see my lights. My vehicle reached about 80 mph and still could not catch up to the red Camaro that was traveling west in a 30 mph area. I then came to a complete stop once I lost sight of the vehicle when I arrived at the intersection of S. Slappey Blvd. an W. Gordon Ave.
As I began to travel north on North Slappey Blvd in normal mode, I saw a 2000 Buick GA tag [REDACTED] with the hazard lights on in the center lane with damage to the passenger side of the vehicle. I then looked on the ground and saw fresh skidmarks leading towards the red Camaro that fled from me. As I traveled further down North Slappey Blvd, I saw the same red Camaro with a flat tire and damage to its driver side bumper.
Upon arrival, I made contact with Cameron Mayo, who stated when asked what happened, that when he left the Pace Gas Station (404 South Slappey Blvd.) he began to travel east going down W. Highland Ave. and then began going south on South McKinley St. Cameron stated as he was traveling down South McKinley St. he heard gunshots and he began to speed away. When I asked Cameron why he did not stop when he saw my vehicle lights and heard the sirens or, stop at South Slappey Plaza (1030 W Gordon Ave), or at one of the gas stations along South Slappey Blvd (600-Blk to 400-Blk), Cameron stated he just wanted to get out of the area and back to the Pace Gas Station (404 South Slappy Blvd.)
Base on the statements Cameron gave and placing him in the red Camero I saw driving Reckless in the area, Cameron was detained in double lock handcuffs, searched incident to arrest, Cameron was placed in a seat belt and read his Miranda Right where he stated he understood and spoke without a lawyer present. More question were asked and Cameron continued to give the same answers as he did previously.
I then asked the owner of the Buick [VICTIM #1] what happened. [VICTIM #1] stated that he was traveling north on South Slappey in the far left lane and Cameron’s red Camaro came out of nowhere and hit his vehicle and kept going.
When I asked all parties if EMS was needed Cameron and [VICTIM #1] advised they did not need EMS. Cameron’s Camaro was towed by Paint Pro Towing without incident because when Cameron’s vehicle hit [VICTIM #1] Buick, it caused the driver side front tire to deflate and bend the rim inwardly.
Cameron was transported to the Dougherty County Jail and turned over to the jail staff. Prior to entering the jail, my department issued weapons was placed in the trunk of the patrol vehicle. Prior to leaving the jail, the back seat was checked for contraband with negative results. Sgt. Paige and Sgt. Jones responded to the scene.
A warrant for Reckless Driving (25-015945-01APD), red light violation (02APD), Hit and Run (03APD) and headlight requirement (04APD) will be taken out on Cameron.
A GCIC/NCIC check was conducted on all parties for wants/warrants with negative results. Cameron’s local RMS information showed that Cameron had a speeding warning open parentheses G0057111) on November 16, 2025 with him going 53 mph on the 600 block of Radium Springs Road and reckless driving citation (G00565554) on November 7, 2025 on the 2500 block of Dawson Road both in Albany, Georgia. Based on the driving history of 2025 it appears that Cameron is constantly speeding or driving recklessly.
This incident is closed by Arrest.
