On January 24, 2026, I responded to 2224 Martin Luther King Jr Dr (Hank Vinson’s Meat House) in emergency mode in reference to a shooting.

Upon arrival, I was informed by an employee that the victim, identified as Michael Solomon, had already left the scene. The employee stated Solomon left in a white GMC pickup truck (unknown tag) and was possibly shot in the leg. The employee advised Solomon was wearing a camouflage jacket, black shirt, black jeans, and a blue beanie. The employee further stated the suspect had fled the scene. Units canvassed the surrounding area in an attempt to locate both the victim and the suspect, with negative results.

I made contact with the business owner, [REDACTED], who stated he had surveillance footage of the incident. I reviewed the footage and observed that at approximately 1430 hours (per the store’s system time), a gold Chevrolet Avalanche displaying Georgia tag [REDACTED] pulled into the parking lot. Three Black male subjects exited the vehicle and entered the store. The driver was later identified as Demetrius Brown, who was wearing an all red sweat suit with white shoes. Solomon was already inside the store prior to Brown’s arrival.

At approximately 1442 hours, Brown exited the store and remained in the parking lot. At approximately 1443 hours, Solomon exited the store, and the two appeared to exchange words. Solomon approached Brown near the rear of Brown’s vehicle, and the dispute continued. Brown then produced a handgun and shot Solomon. Solomon retreated toward the front of the vehicle, where he produced what appeared to be a revolver from his waistband and returned fire toward Brown.

Brown fled the scene on foot, running east through the alleyway. Solomon was observed continuing to fire in Brown’s direction as Brown fled. Solomon then approached the front of the store, where he appeared to realize he had been shot. Solomon placed his firearm inside a white GMC pickup truck (unknown tag number) and asked the owner of the vehicle for a ride to the hospital, where he later arrived at approximately 1558 hours.

Lieutenant Jones retrieved the surveillance footage and will log it into Albany Property Management as evidence.

I made contact with employee [WITNESS #1], who stated he was inside the building when he heard gunshots. He advised he looked outside and observed Solomon pointing a firearm toward someone but did not see who Solomon was shooting at.

Sergeant Allen, Lieutenant Jones, and Lieutenant Henry arrived on scene. Detective Kicklighter arrived on scene, and the investigation was turned over to her.

This case is active and will be forwarded to Investigations.
