I responded in normal mode to [600 BLOCK] W 4th Ave in reference to an aggravated assault. Upon my arrival, I made contact with [VICTIM #1], who stated that on 02/24/2025, her live-in boyfriend, Derrick Alexander, had choked her out to where she almost became unconscious.

[VICTIM #1] stated that on 02/24/2025, she or Alexander returned home from work, to which she advised she does not remember who returned home first. [VICTIM #1] stated that Alexander was attempting to talk to her, to which she was not responding. [VICTIM #1] stated that Alexander then became irate, stating you have been acting funny for the past 5 days. [VICTIM #1] stated that Alexander then stated she must be seeing other men. [VICTIM #1] stated that while she was lying in the bed, Alexander wrapped both of his hands around her throat and choked her out to where she could not breathe. [VICTIM #1] stated Alexander possibly choked her out for approximately 1min and 30Sec. [VICTIM #1] stated that once Alexander let her she fell to the floor. [VICTIM #1] stated that while she was attempting to catch her breath, Alexander was standing over her, stating he would kill her. [VICTIM #1] stated that Alexander then grabbed her by the throat with both hands again. [VICTIM #1] stated that Alexander then picked her off the floor and threw her on the bed. [VICTIM #1] stated that she had to lay there still for the rest of the night she was unable to even get a drink. [VICTIM #1] stated that whenever she attempted to get up, Alexander would force her back down.

[VICTIM #1] stated that the next day (02/25/2025), Alexander wanted to get Taco Bell, and while he was at Taco Bell, Alexander became irate again. [VICTIM #1] stated that when they got back to the residence, and Alexander stepped out of the car, she pulled away and went to her mother’s residence. [VICTIM #1] stated that when she went back to work that afternoon, the boss gave her two new phones. [VICTIM #1] stated that she was unable to call the police that day due to Alexander destroying her phones 2 weeks ago. [VICTIM #1] stated that last night, she received 48 calls from Alexander. [VICTIM #1] stated that she received voice messages from Alexander stating that she was going to kill her. [VICTIM #1] stated that due to the threats she received from a text, she called the police. I asked [VICTIM #1] where Alexander was located, and she advised he was possibly still inside the residence. I asked [VICTIM #1] if we could go inside the residence in an attempt to locate Alexander, to which she gave verbal consent.

I observed bruising around [VICTIM #1]’s neck and a small laceration underneath [VICTIM #1]’s right ear.

Myself and Ptl. Johnson went inside the residence in an attempt to locate Alexander, who was in the bedroom putting socks on. Alexander was then detained in handcuffs double locked in the rear. I brought Alexander outside the residence and sat him on the steps at the rear of the residence. I then read Alexander his Miranda Rights to which he advised he understood and would like to speak with me. I asked Alexander what occurred between him and [VICTIM #1] two nights ago to which he advised nothing happened.

Alexander stated that he and [VICTIM #1] got into a verbal argument due to him believing that [VICTIM #1] cheated on him. Alexander stated that no physical altercation occurred, and [VICTIM #1] left the residence. Alexander stated this was the first time he had seen [VICTIM #1] in two days.

I advised Sgt. Franklin of this incident, and he advised transporting Alexander to the Law Enforcement Center (201 W Oglethorpe Blvd) to make contact with an investigator. Alexander was then searched for weapons or contraband, but negative results were obtained. Alexander was then placed in the rear of my patrol vehicle and transported to the Law Enforcement Center without incident. Alexander was then placed in interview room F and released to Cpl. Woodall.
