On 02/11/2026 I Ptl D. Estrada and R. Richardson responded in normal patrol mode to W Oakridge Dr, Newton Rd for a discharge of a firearm.

Upon arrival we made contact with Ptl. Q. Davis who informed us that the victim is [VICTIM #1] who was in a vehicle GA tag [REDACTED]. Ptl. Davis stated that [VICTIM #1] was leaving his cousins house on Barton Dr, he was on a red light on Newton Rd on the far right lane. Ptl. Davis advised that [VICTIM #1] stated that he heard shots coming from the back of the car and that’s when he ducked down. [VICTIM #1] also stated that the shots sounded like the firearm was an automatic. [VICTIM #1] stated that he slowly pulled into the Homerun Foods.

We made contact with a worker from Homerun foods, [WITNESS #1], [WITNESS #1] stated that she was taking the trash out when she heard the gun shots. [WITNESS #1] stated that she did not observe anything due to her running back into the pump cubical and ducking down.

We made contact with a worker of Homerun Foods, [WITNESS #2]. [WITNESS #2] stated that he was outside sweeping the front side walk of Homerun foods when he heard the gunshots. [WITNESS #2] stated that he informed his coworker [WITNESS #3] that someone was shooting. [WITNESS #2] then stated that he did not observe anything.

We then made contact with a worker of Homerun foods, [WITNESS #3]. [WITNESS #3] stated that she was in the back office when the shooting took place. [WITNESS #3] stated that she heard the gunshots but she thought it was loud noises from the business next to them. [WITNESS #3] stated that he coworker [WITNESS #2] came in and told her. We observed bullet holes to the vehicle causing excessive damage.

We observed three bullet holes to the front windshield passenger side and shattered rear window. We observed approximatley ten bullet holes to the driver side. We also observed a shatered driver side window. We observed that the vehicle had a flat tire on the rear driver side. We observed a shattered rear window in the passenger side. We took pictures of the vehicle and they will be placed in 201 W Oglethorpe Blvd locker #02.

Sgt. Laethem was advised of this incident. A-1 Towing responded to the scene and towed [VICTIM #1]’s vehicle as a preference.

We then escorted [VICTIM #1] to 201 W. Oglethorpe Blvd. (Law Enforcement Center) for further questioning, where he was then turned over to Inv. Wells. While at the LEC, We were informed that Ptl. Ford and Ptl. Warner were enroute to the LEC with the suspect, black male Desmore Mack Jr. so that he could speak to Inv. Wells about the incident.

Once Inv. Wells was finished with her investigation, we then placed Mack into double-locked handcuffs, searched him incident to arrest, and placed him into the rear of our patrol vehicle (19-003). We then transported Mack to Dougherty County Jail and secured our department issued service weapon into the trunk of the patrol car (#19-003).

We then escorted Mack into the Dougherty County Jail, where he was then turned over to the Dougherty County Jail intake officer. We then searched the rear seats of our patrol vehicle for any contraband where we were met with negative results.

This case has been fowarded to investigations.
