I (Ptl. Medlock) responded in normal mode to [700 BLOCK] 9th Ave. in reference to Family Violence.

Upon arrival, I made contact with [VICTIM #1] who stated that he and his grandmother Dorothy Ball got into an altercation where she pulled a blue and black knife on him. [VICTIM #1] stated his grandmother got drunk and began acting irate by screaming and making noise outside of [700 BLOCK] 9th Ave Unit [REDACTED].

[VICTIM #1] stated that when he advised Dorthy to come into the house so that she would not disturb the rest of the neighbors she became even more irate. [VICTIM #1] stated that at which time Dorothy pulled out a black and blue knife on him, attempting to harm him with it. [VICTIM #1] stated Dorothy pointed the knife at him and stated she would kill him. [VICTIM #1] stated he attempted to grab Dorthy by her hands so that she would not harm him with the knife at which time they began to tussle.

I made contact with Dorthy who stated that she is allowed to drink in her home and that [VICTIM #1] always tries to stop her. Dorthy stated she and [VICTIM #1] got into a verbal altercation. Dorothy stated [VICTIM #1] used both hands and pushed her to the ground and then hit her in the lip. Dorothy stated she then pulled her blue and black knife on [VICTIM #1] attempting to attack him and told him she would kill him if he tried to hit her again.

I observed 2 videos given to me by [VICTIM #1] that show Dorothy with a pickaxe attempting to open the front door after [VICTIM #1] locked it. It further shows Dorothy with her blue and black blade without a swollen lip walking out of the house. The second video shows Dorothy in the home. The video further shows Dorothy slapping the phone out of [VICTIM #1]’s hand while she is holding the blue and black knife in her hand. In the video, you can observe a black screen but hear tussling between [VICTIM #1] and Dorothy where [VICTIM #1] is advising her to put the knife down but is refusing.

Dorothy was placed in double locked handcuffs (to the rear) for Aggravated Assault against [VICTIM #1] and searched incident to arrest and placed in patrol vehicle (19-003). Dorothy was placed in a seat belt. Dorothy was transported to the Dougherty County Jail by Ptl. McClain and turned over to the jail staff.

I advised them to contact the police if they need further assistance. Photos, video, and all evidence of the scene were taken and submitted to Property/Management (201 W Oglethorpe Ave) locker 2. Sgt. Tuten was notified of this incident and this case was turned over to investigator Brown. A GCIC/NCIC check was conducted on all parties for wants/warrants with negative results.

This incident is domestic in nature because Dorothy and [VICTIM #1] live together.

This case remains active and forwarded to investigation.
