I responded in normal mode to the intersection of S Jefferson St and Corn Ave in reference to a hit and run.
Upon arrival, I made contact with a Black male identified as Jesus Robinson. Robinson reported that while operating a 2013 Nissan Altima bearing Illinois registration [REDACTED], a white Lincoln MKZ displaying Georgia registration [REDACTED] struck his vehicle as he crossed the intersection. Robinson stated the Lincoln entered the roadway from a driveway, struck his vehicle, and continued without stopping. He further advised the Lincoln also collided with a stop sign and a tree before fleeing westbound on Corn Avenue.
I observed the stop sign at the intersection had been struck and was bent. Additionally, I noted a visible tire trail leading off the curb through the grass to a tree, consistent with Robinson’s account.
I then made contact with a Black male, identified as [WITNESS #1], at [400 BLOCK] Corn Avenue. [WITNESS #1] stated he heard a loud bang while in his backyard and observed the white Lincoln driving from the curb in front of [400 BLOCK] Corn Avenue onto the roadway, heading westbound. [WITNESS #1] reported taking a photograph of the vehicle due to suspicion that it would not stop. He was unable to identify the driver due to dark window tint. [WITNESS #1] further advised that while en route to his mother’s residence, he observed the Lincoln parked in the lot at Driskell Park (1023 S McKinley Street), near the basketball court.
A GCIC/NCIC query revealed that both vehicles-the white Lincoln MKZ and the Nissan Altima-had suspended registrations and lacked valid insurance coverage. Robinson was issued a citation for No Insurance (Citation #G0055276).
A check of Georgia Department of Revenue records confirmed the Lincoln’s registration had been suspended since 09/29/2025, with no valid insurance coverage since 07/21/2025.
Flock camera footage captured the Lincoln traveling northbound on MLK Jr Drive at Tremont Avenue at approximately 11:51 AM. The footage showed minor damage near the front passenger door and the vehicle appeared wet due to recent rainfall. Notably, the damage and dirt observed later in person were not visible in the Flock footage.
The Nissan Altima was removed from the scene by JD Griffin Towing.
Upon arrival at Driskell Park, I observed the Lincoln MKZ in the parking lot. The vehicle exhibited visible damage to the right front fender and bumper. The area around the damage had brown dirt present, which had not been visible in the earlier Flock camera image.
Miles Towing was contacted and arrived on scene to tow the Lincoln.
Contact was made with the registered owner of the Lincoln, identified as Jeremy Brown, who was accompanied by several male acquaintances. Brown claimed the vehicle sustained the observed damage approximately six months ago in a separate driveway incident. He stated that earlier in the day he attended The Real Church located at 2505 Martin Luther King Jr Drive, then returned home before heading to the park, where he had been playing football since 2:00 PM. Brown denied involvement in the hit and run and stated he had been the sole driver of the vehicle throughout the day.
Based on the investigation, evidence, and witness accounts, Brown was placed under arrest without incident. He was secured in double-locked handcuffs to the rear. Miles Towing removed the Lincoln from the scene. Brown was transported to the Dougherty County Jail for booking Hit and Run (Citation #G0055277) and was cited No Insurance (Citation #G0055278) and Suspended Registration (Citation #G0055279).
Prior to entering the jail, I secured my service firearm in the trunk of my patrol vehicle. Brown was turned over to jail staff without incident. After exiting the jail, I retrieved my service firearm and conducted a search of the rear passenger compartment of my patrol vehicle, yielding negative results for weapons or contraband.
This case is cleared by arrest.
