I Ptl. M. Warner responded in normal patrol mode to [700 BLOCK] Byron Dr. in reference to family violence.

Upon arrival, I made contact with B/M identified as [VICTIM #1], who stated that he and his wife, a B/F identified as [VICTIM #2], were attempting to drop off their granddaughter to the parents of the child. [VICTIM #1] advised that upon arrival, the child’s father attempted to remove the child from the rear seat of the vehicle; however, his stepdaughter, a B/F identified as Keviana Poole, refused to allow him to do so. [VICTIM #1] further stated that Poole then entered the vehicle, preventing him and his wife from leaving the scene. [VICTIM #1] also that he observed Poole in possession of a pocket knife and was unsure of her intentions. At that time, he contacted law enforcement.

I then made contact with B/F identified as [VICTIM #2], who stated that she agreed to babysit Poole’s child. [VICTIM #2] advised that she picked the child up at approximately 1400 hours and informed Poole that she would be returning the child to the residence at approximately 1930 hours. [VICTIM #2] further stated that she attempted to contact Poole via telephone; however, Poole’s phone was going directly to voicemail. [VICTIM #2] and [VICTIM #1] then went to the residence at approximately 2130 hours, at which time she observed Poole on scene.

I then made contact with B/F identified as Keviana Poole, who stated that she refused to retrieve her child due to her being under the influence of alcohol. Poole further stated that she was afraid to return to her residence at Superior Creek Lodge (2505 N. Slappey Blvd) due to her mother going there and observing an open door prior to arriving at [700 BLOCK] Byron Dr.

The child’s father retrieved the child and agreed to staying at his brother residence to avoid any conflict between himself and Poole. However, his brother is out of town and the doors were locked and secure; therefore, he went next door to his mother’s residence, obtained a key, and went inside with the child. Poole was advised to go to the child’s father’s alternate residence (shed) in which she did.

I then left the scene, resuming normal operations. As I was leaving, I observed Poole in front of the mother’s residence, being loud and irate. I also observed the mother standing in the doorway. I waited for additional units to respond back out to this location. I then observed Poole standing in the middle of the roadway, preventing a vehicle from passing while yelling “help”. I made contact with Poole and advised her multiple times to go inside the shed; however, she refused to comply.

Myself, Ptl. Conley and Ptl. White then attempted to place Poole in hancuffs, at which time she actively resisted. Poole was taken to the ground but, continued to resist. Once on the ground, officers were able to secure Poole in handcuffs behind her back. While being secured, Poole began kicking. Due to her continued noncompliance, Ptl. Conley applied leg restraints. Officers then carried Poole and placed her in the rear of my patrol vehicle.

Poole was then transported to Dougherty County Jail. My duty weapon was secured in the trunk of my patrol vehicle. Upon arrival, Ptl. Conley and I attempted to remove Poole from the vehicle, at which she began kicking, striking me in the knee. We then carried Poole to the rear intake door, where she was turned over to Dougherty County Jail Staff.

My patrol vehicle was then checked for weapons and contraband, which yielded negative results. A NCIC/GCIC check was conducted on all involved parties, which yielded negative results. This case is domestic in nature due to the relationship between Poole and [VICTIM #2].

This case was cleared by arrest.
