I (Ptl. C. Barrett) responded in Emergency mode to [300 BLOCK] S Jackson St in reference to a Shooting.

Upon arrival I observed a vehicle (Silver in Color Toyota Camry Solara GA Tag [REDACTED] [REDACTED]) leaving the area to which was later identified as carrying the gunshot victim (Later identified as [VICTIM #1]) to Phoebe Main (417 W 3rd Ave). Upon arrival I made contact with [VICTIM #1]’s father (black male white in color shirt, blue jean shorts later identified as [WITNESS #1]), his mother (dark blue hoodie, dark long pants Later identified as [REDACTED]), and their daughter (Later identified as [REDACTED]).

[WITNESS #1] stated he first became aware of the incident after he heard three gunshots from outside his residence which was on the 2nd floor. [WITNESS #1] stated he checked outside because he was concerned for [VICTIM #1]’s safety as he just left home to throw away the thrash.

[WITNESS #1] stated upon opening the door and heading to the first floor he observed several people running through the breezeway and a subject (heavy set possibly 5’8 in height Black male wearing all black) with a hand gun discharging 8 addition gunshots towards the playground area at the apt complex. [WITNESS #1] stated the subject fled westbound towards S Jackson St after leaving the building where his residence is located.

[WITNESS #1] stated during the incident he made contact with [VICTIM #1] and his sister who returned home with him. [WITNESS #1] stated he did not initially notice [VICTIM #1]’s injury for a short moment until he observed a gunshot wound to his upper chest.

[WITNESS #1] stated he, [REDACTED], [REDACTED] and his younger sibling (unknown) enter their vehicle and quickly left the scene to Phoebe Main to acquire medical care. [WITNESS #1] stated he believes the subject(s) with the firearm were possibly related to an incident he heard about earlier in the day.

[WITNESS #1] stated on last night there were reportedly several subjects with long guns attempting to make contact with an individual (only known as “[REDACTED]”) regarding an unknown altercation between the parties. [WITNESS #1] stated he doesn’t know if the two incidents are related but that minutes prior to the incident today he observed a number of subjects talking at this same location.

During the investigation it was later revealed that a second individual (Black Male, light skin complexion, skinny build wearing a ski mask) initially made contact with [WITNESS #1] and shot him by the playground.

Lt. G. Gadt, Lt. S. Richardson, Sgt. H. Paige and Sgt. L. Jackson were notified and responded to this incident. An NCIC/GCIC Status check for stolen/warrants was performed for all parties with negative results.

This case is active and forwarded to Investigations.
