On April 25, 2026, I (Ofc. J. Brown) responded to a normal patrol mode to [1500 BLOCK] Campbell St in reference to a family violence call for service. Upon my arrival, Ofc. I. Whitus, Ofc S. Reeder, and Ofc S. Harris were on the scene, making contact with both parties. I made contact with a black female (later identified as [VICTIM #1]), who stated that she woke up this morning, smoked a cigarette, and began to wash her face.

[VICTIM #1] stated that she recently got a new dog that had defecated on the floor. [VICTIM #1] stated that because she was washing her face with facewash, she did not pick up the dog poop, but she intended to. [VICTIM #1] stated that her mother (later identified as K’ysha Banks) started yelling and cursing at her regarding the dog poop. [VICTIM #1] stated in the two continued to argue before, K’ysha went into her bedroom (which was located north of the property).

[VICTIM #1] stated while K’ysha was in her bedroom, she told her that she would shoot her in the face. [VICTIM #1] stated that she knocked on the door, and told K’ysha something along the lines of “If you’re gonna shoot me, shoot me”. [VICTIM #1] stated she was on the phone with Dispatch when K’ysha threatened her. [VICTIM #1] stated K’ysha came out of her room and pointed a small gray/black in color Titan .25 auto (serial #D937800) in her face. [VICTIM #1] stated that she has seen the firearm before and that it would be located in K’ysha’s closet.

I made contact with K’ysha, who stated that [VICTIM #1] has been verbally abused by [VICTIM #1]. K’ysha stated she went to smoke a cigarette and noticed that the dog had pooped on the floor. K’ysha stated she asked [VICTIM #1] to clean it up, and she responded to her something along the lines of “Leave me the fu*k alone”. K’ysha stated that they started arguing, and [VICTIM #1] continued to ask her why she was bothering her.

K’ysha stated she went into her room and locked her door. K’ysha stated she heard [VICTIM #1] call the cops, but that she did not have a firearm on her person. K’ysha stated that she could not have a firearm due to her being on probation for a motor vehicle theft charge. I initially asked K’ysha if she would give me consent to search her residence for the firearm, and she agreed. I returned to my vehicle to retrieve a consent to search waiver. I returned to the residence, completed the waiver, and returned to K’ysha to explain it to her. K’ysha refused to let me search her residence.

I returned my vehicle and conducted a NCIC/GCIC search for warrants, yielding negative results. I contacted Sgt. Sherman, who made contact with Sgt. Outlaw. Sgt. Outlaw responded to the scene shortly after contacting Investigations. Cpl. Kicklighter responded to the scene shortly after with a signed search warrant. Lt. Gadt responded to the location shortly after. We conducted a search of the residence for the firearm, yielding the following results:

-(1) one silver/black in color Titan .25 auto firearm, w/(1) one live round in the chamber.
-(1) one magazine containing (6) six PMC .25 Auto live rounds
-(1) one box of 100 count .22lr live rounds

K’ysha was placed in double-locked handcuffs by Ofc. A. Drake (who was on the scene also). Ofc. Drake escorted her to my marked patrol vehicle, conducted a search incident to arrest for weapons/contraband, yielding negative results. K’ysha was placed in the vehicle pending further instruction. Ofc. Drake secured K’ysha with the safety belt and transported K’ysha to the Law Enforcement Center (201 W Oglethorpe Blvd) to be further interviewed. Ofc. Drake transported [VICTIM #1] to the Law Enforcement Center for further investigation.

Post interview with Cpl. Kicklighter, K’ysha was transported to the Dougherty County Jail (1302 Evelyn Ave) and turned over to their staff for further processing. During transportation, K’ysha did not utter anything. My department-issued firearm was stowed in the trunk of my vehicle before escorting K’ysha inside the jail. Post transportation, a search for weapons/contraband was conducted of the rear of my vehicle, yielding negative results.

Cpl. Kicklighter will be taking out a warrant against K’ysha for the following:

-Aggravated Assault

This case is domestic in nature because [VICTIM #1] and K’ysha are mother/daughter and reside in the same residence. The following was submitted as evidence to the Albany Police Department property management evidence locker #7 at a later time:

-(1) one silver/black in color Titan .25 auto firearm, w/ (1) one live round in the chamber and one magazine containing.

The following items will be stored in locker #8:

-(6) six PMC .25 Auto live rounds
-(1) one box of 100 count .22lr live rounds

ENTRY OF APPEARANCE AND MOTION FOR BOND FILED BY DEFENSE COUNSEL

What this means: Kysha Monica Banks’s defense attorney has officially entered the case and filed a request asking the court to set or modify her bond conditions. This is a standard early step in a criminal case where the defense seeks to secure the defendant’s release from custody pending trial, either on her own recognizance or with specific bond terms.
