November 23, 2025 at approximately 1046 hours I patrolman Wiley responded in emergency mode to [100 BLOCK] Morningside Dr. in reference to a shooting.
Upon arrival Contact was made with B/M [VICTIM #1] and B/F [WITNESS #1]. Due to the severity of the situation [VICTIM #1] was directed to exit the home with his hands up, in a non combative manner. [VICTIM #1] expressed that he had been struck by a bullet, and EMS was called to respond. Contact was made with B/F [WITNESS #1] as [WITNESS #1] escorted herself and their children out of the home. After all subjects were out of the residence, I patrolman Wiley conducted a safety sweep of the residence.
Contact was made for a second time with [WITNESS #1]. [WITNESS #1] stated that she and [VICTIM #1] were lying in bed sleep, and that her daughter [REDACTED BY AGENCY] notified her that someone was at the door. [WITNESS #1] stated that she picked up her daughter and walked to the door. [WITNESS #1] stated that once she had gotten to the door, she noticed that the individual was B/M Larry Johnson. [WITNESS #1] stated that she spoke with Johnson through the door, asking him several times to leave despite Johnson saying he wants to talk about legitimizing his daughter. [WITNESS #1] stated that after the failed attempt to get Johnson to leave, [WITNESS #1] went in the backroom to call Johnson’s mother and began hearing gunshots.
Contact was made with B/M [VICTIM #1] at the hospital. When questioned about what happened [VICTIM #1] stated that he and Johnson engaged in a physical altercation about 4 years ago. [VICTIM #1] stated that during that altercation Johnson expressed to [VICTIM #1], “that he would catch him next time he seen him”.
[VICTIM #1] stated that after being notified that Johnson was at his door, [VICTIM #1] stated that he went to the door and asked Johnson to leave off of his property. [VICTIM #1] stated that after asking Johnson to leave, no words were exchanged, and that Johnson began shooting at him.
[VICTIM #1] stated that after being shot, he fell to the ground and begun to return fire at Johnson out of self defense. [VICTIM #1] stated that he went to the door with his gun because [WITNESS #1] notified him that [JOHNSON] is usually armed. [VICTIM #1] stated that Johnson fired the first shot and that he returned approximately five shots.
I patrolman Wiley observed [VICTIM #1] to be shot in his right hip. I patrolman Wiley located blood all over the floor of the residence as I conducted a saftey sweep of the residence. I Patrolman Wiley observed a tan in color 9mm F&N handgun located on a vanity that was located close by the door. The handgun was unloaded and the slide was locked to the rear. Crime scene tape was placed in effort to preserve the scene.
This case was turned over to the Albany Police Department investigation Bureau.
