Officer’s Narrative:

I Ptl. Q. McClain, responded in normal patrol mode to 2731 Dawson Rd Rm [REDACTED] in reference to Family Violence.
Upon my arrival, I made contact with Amiya Jenkins stating that she was lying in the bed on the far side of the room with her children, [REDACTED BY AGENCY] (11 months old juvenile) and [REDACTED BY AGENCY] (2 years old juvenile). Jenkins stated that her boyfriend/children’s father, Lonnie Lewis, came to their room at approximately 3:00 am. Jenkins stated when Lewis came into the room he laid on top of her and put all of his body weight on her.
Jenkins stated she told Lewis to get off of her and that she was not “on that”. Jenkins stated Lewis got up and she moved to the other bed closer to the door to get away from Lewis. Jenkins stated Lewis was still sitting on the other bed. Jenkins stated she then went back to lay down in the bed that she was first on with her two children.
Jenkins stated while she was getting ready to lay down when Lewis from behind her and wrapped his right arm around her neck and began applying pressure. Jenkins stated she began leaning forward trying to get away from Lewis. Jenkins stated Lewis started squeezing tighter. Jenkins stated she several times that she could not breathe. Jenkins stated she began to fell dizzy and like she was in a daze. Jenkins stated she stopped talking so she could try to breathe. Jenkins stated Lewis finally let her go and she jumped up and ran to open the door so that she could catch her breath.
Jenkins stated it was normal for to be out all night and come back late. Jenkins stated she believes Lewis was on something because he does not usually act the way he was acting. Jenkins stated their children were awake and sitting on the bed during the incident. Jenkins provided a written statement. Pictures were taken of Jenkins’ neck and will be logged into evidence locker #2 at the Law Enforcement Center (LEC).
I made contact with Lonnie Lewis stating that he had been out drinking and Jenkins was just tripping. Lewis stated he did wrap his arm around Jenkin’s neck. Lewis stated Jenkins did say that she could not breathe like two times. Lewis stated Jenkins stated it fast. Lewis stated he let Jenkins go a little bit after she said that she could not breathe.
Lewis was placed in double-locked handcuffs and escorted to the rear of my patrol vehicle (19-003). Lewis was searched for contraband and was met with negative results. Lewis was placed in the rear seat of my patrol vehicle. Lt. Arline was informed of this incident and arrived on scene.
A GCIC/NCIC search was conducted on Lonnie Jones and was met with negative results. A GCIC/NCIC search was conducted on Amiya Jenkins and was met with positive results. Dispatch advised that Jenkins had an active Municipal warrant, but they would not verify.
Inv. Woodall was informed of this incident and arrived on scene. Inv. Woodall was spoke with Jenkins and she provided him with the statement that she provided Lt. Arline and myself. Inv. Woodall read Lewis his Miranda Warning. Lewis stated he doesn’t want to talk.
I transported Lewis to the Dougherty County Jail. Upon my arrival, I placed my service weapon in the trunk of my patrol vehicle. I then walked Lewis into the jail, where he was seen by the jail’s medical staff Lewis was released to the jail intake staff without further incident.
I searched the rear of the patrol vehicle for contraband and was met with negative results.
Warrants for Aggravated Assault – Family Violence – hands/Feet/Fist and Cruelty to Children in the Third Degree (x2) will be issued for Lonnie Jones.
A CARES form will be submitted due to this incident occurring in the presence of the children.
This case is cleared by arrest and forwarded to Investigations.
