On December 21, 2023 I, Ptl. Whitus, along with Cpl. Hudson, responded in normal mode to [500 BLOCK] S Van Buren St Apt. [REDACTED], in reference to Disorderly Cconduct.

Upon arrival, I, Ptl. Whitus, made contact with black female, [REDACTED BY AGENCY] in the back of [500 BLOCK] S Van Buren St. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated her and her mother, [WITNESS #1], was walking to (Needs Corner store) located at 801 W Gordon Ave. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated while walking to the store she observe a black in color sedan occupied by four females, slow down before coming to a complete stop.

[REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated she could hear the females in the car yelling things while the windows were up as if they saw someone they had been looking for. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated the car came to a complete stop and the females began to exit the vehicle. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] state, Makela Wilcox exited the vehicle and began to approach her. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated one of the females began to record. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated she was familiar with the female recording but was not sure of her last name. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated Wilcox began to ask her “why did you let them folks jump me”.

[REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated she continued to walk to the store. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated, Wilcox came behind her while she was facing the other way and began to attack her by swinging at her. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated she missed the first punch to she turned around to defend herself. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated they began to grab onto each-others hair before being separated by her mother, [WITNESS #1].

[REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated Wilcox was a former friend of hers. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated she allowed Wilcox to spend the night with her at her residence, located at [500 BLOCK] S Van Buren, one day in June. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated Wilcox got into a verbal altercation with some females on social media at gave the females her address.

[REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated the females Wilcox was arguing with came to her house looking for Wilcox. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated the females stood on the side of the residence, asking Willcox to come outside. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated Wilcox opened the door with her child in her arms. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated she told the girls to wait until she put her baby down.

She then stated, after Wilcox put her child down, another female came from around the residence to fight her as well. She stated they began fighting on the front porch. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated she did want to pursue charges against Wilcox. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated two of the females live in the same apartment complex as well but she was unsure where about.

I, Ptl. Whitus, then made contact with [REDACTED BY AGENCY] mother, [WITNESS #1], who stated she was walking to the store with [REDACTED BY AGENCY] when, she observe a black in color sedan occupied by four females, slow down before coming to a complete stop. She stated when she observed Wilcox exit the vehicle she immediately told [REDACTED BY AGENCY] to keep walking. [WITNESS #1] stated Wilcox ran up behind [REDACTED BY AGENCY] and attempted to hit her but [REDACTED BY AGENCY] turned around and began to fight back. [WITNESS #1] stated they began to fight but she quickly began to break the fight up.

We were able to find Wilcox information per GCIC/NCIC. We made contact with Wilcox via Phone. Wilcox stated her and the other females were already on their way to [REDACTED BY AGENCY] residence to talk to her in reference to the incident that took place in June. Wilcox stated she did exit the vehicle and approach [REDACTED BY AGENCY]. Stated [REDACTED BY AGENCY] initiated the incident by advising they fight and hitting her first. Wilcox stated she has a video of the incident as well.

We advised Wilcox to meet with us in reference to incident. Wilcox stated she needed a minute to figure out where she could meet us, and advised we call her back. I attempted to make contact via phone 5-8 minutes prior to the first phone call, two times with negative results. Cpl. Hudson called attempted to make contact again with Wilcox and was met with positive results, but Wilcox did not say anything on the phone until Cpl. Hudson advised her if she didn’t make contact with us, she would have a warrant taken on her for her arrest.

Wilcox then answered Cpl. Hudson stating she would meet us at the Albany Police Department in reference to the incident. Wilcox was informed that if she meet us at the Albany Police Department she would only be issued a citation for Disorderly Conduct, but if not, she we would proceed with the warrant. Wilcox stated she would be on the way soon. We, Cpl. Hudson, and myself, Ptl. Whitus, waiting for approximately 25 minutes with negative results on meeting Wilcox in person. We attempted to contact Wilcox again via phone, which were met with negative results.

A warrant will be taken on Wilcox for Disorderly Conduct. We performed a GCICC/NCIC check on all parties present for any active warrants, which resulted in negetive results.

This incident remains active.
