On December 1, 2025, I, Ptl. A. Mack, responded to 2400 Dawson Rd (Amoco Gas Station) in reference to an unknown problem.
While traveling northbound on Dawson Rd, Dispatch advised over the radio that the caller stated she would be waiting at the BP gas station until law enforcement arrived. Upon arrival at BP, I canvassed the property and did not see anyone matching the caller’s description. As I was exiting the BP parking lot, I observed a white Toyota Avalon (Ga tag #[REDACTED]) traveling southbound on Dawson Rd and turning westbound onto Westgate Dr.
As the vehicle passed, the driver, later identified as Maria Lloyd, was yelling through her closed window. I instructed her to roll the window down, which she did. Maria stated she was having an anxiety attack because someone was trying to kill her. During the conversation, she said the subject was located at the Amoco gas station at 2400 Dawson Rd. I instructed her to pull into that location so I could make contact with her and the alleged subject.
Maria began traveling westbound on Westgate Dr and passed the entrance to the Amoco station. I flagged her clown, causing her to turn around in the Office Depot parking lot and ultimately enter the Amoco parking lot. Upon entering, she initially attempted to drive back out onto Dawson Rd before reversing and parking in a parking space. During the altercation I had reason to believe Maria was attempted to elude the scene.
I then made contact with Maria who stated that someone was after her and attempting to kill her. She further stated she struck the vehicle of a gas station employee because they were “trying to leave and get away” from her. Maria said she had attempted to get gas, and when the employees refused, she became alarmed and struck their vehicle.
I then spoke with the gas station employees, later identified as [VICTIM #1] (driver) and [VICTIM #2] (passenger). They advised the store was closed, and they were attempting to leave when Maria approached for gas. [VICTIM #1] stated he told Maria the store was closed and wished her a good night. He said Maria then placed her vehicle in drive and rammed the rear of his vehicle (Ga tag [REDACTED]).
[VICTIM #1] stated he attempted to drive away from Maria, which caused him to drive behind the store, and she followed him. [VICTIM #1] said he became scared and ran into the store to call law enforcement. He stated he does not know Maria and has no idea why she acted in that manner. Both [VICTIM #1] and [VICTIM #2] didn’t report any injuries during the incident.
Maria was placed in handcuffs, double-locked, and searched for weapons and contraband before being placed in the rear of my patrol vehicle. While I was attempting to seat her in the vehicle, she pulled away but eventually complied. While in the rear seat, Maria stated she had left her daughter, later identified as [REDACTED BY AGENCY], alone at her residence. Sgt. L. Jones and Cpl. J. Reneue responded to the residence, located at [1700 BLOCK] Gary Ave, to check on and recover the child.
Maria then stated she could not breathe due to an anxiety attack. EMS responded and advised her vital signs were normal.
Maria was interviewed by Investigator Brown from the rear of my patrol vehicle. She was then charged with two counts of Aggravated Assault and one count of Reckless Conduct for leaving her daughter unattended. Maria was transported to Dougherty County Jail (1307 Evelyn Ave).
Upon arrival, I secured my duty weapon in the rear of my patrol vehicle before escorting Maria inside. She was turned over to jail staff along with the driver’s license she possessed at the time of arrest. Photographs was taken of both vehicles and will be placed on a CD and stored into evidence locker #02 at the Albany Police Department Property/Management.
A GCIC/NECIC check was conducted on all involved parties for wants and warrants, yielding negative results.
This case is cleared by arrest.
