I responded in normal patrol mode to [500 BLOCK] Ebony Ln in reference to a family violence incident involving a weapon.
Upon arrival, I observed a black male wearing a black jacket, black pants, and a white hat, later identified as Quantavious Daniels, walking on the east side of the apartment complex. A black female wearing a white shirt and black pants, later identified as [VICTIM #1], exited [500 BLOCK] Ebony Ln. I also observed smoke coming from the residence. [VICTIM #1] pointed toward Daniels and stated that he was the individual involved.
I then proceeded to the rear of the apartment complex, where I observed Daniels attempting to enter a blue Toyota Camry displaying Georgia tag [REDACTED]. I advised Daniels to come speak with me, at which time he stated, “Oh hell nah,” and fled on foot. Daniels ran southbound across the 500 block of Ebony Ln and the 500 block of Hickory Ln, then continued eastbound behind the apartment complex.
Due to Daniels fleeing, I drew my department-issued Glock 47 (serial number CECCO28) and began scanning the wooded area after hearing movement within the tree line. I observed Daniels in the wooded area and gave verbal commands for him to stop. Daniels then dove through nearby vines, at which point I lost sight of him. Daniels was later located and taken into custody by Ptl. Conley at [400 BLOCK] Gaines Ave, where he was found hiding underneath a truck.
I then returned to [500 BLOCK] Ebony Ln, where Albany Fire Department Engine 5 was on scene and had extinguished the fire inside the residence. Ptl. Estrada gathered a statement from [VICTIM #1].
I made contact with [REDACTED BY AGENCY] [VICTIM #2], identified as [VICTIM #1]’s brother. [VICTIM #2] stated he was upstairs when he heard Daniels say he was going to kill [VICTIM #1] and [REDACTED BY AGENCY] [REDACTED]. [VICTIM #2] stated he went downstairs and confronted Daniels in the kitchen, where he observed a fire that Daniels had started. [VICTIM #2] stated Daniels approached him holding knives, “talking crazy,” and attempted to stab him multiple times. [VICTIM #2] stated that during one of the attempts, Daniels stabbed a computer that was sitting on the kitchen table. [VICTIM #2] refused to provide further details and declined medical attention, stating he had not been cut.
I made contact with [REDACTED BY AGENCY] who stated she was upstairs in her bedroom when she heard [VICTIM #1] yelling to call the police. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated she went downstairs and observed smoke throughout the residence and Daniels attempting to stab [VICTIM #2] multiple times. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] confirmed that Daniels struck a computer on the kitchen table with a knife. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated she then grabbed [REDACTED] and exited the residence for safety.
I also made contact with [REDACTED BY AGENCY], who stated she was upstairs when she heard [VICTIM #1] yelling for help. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated when she went downstairs, she observed a fire in the kitchen and Daniels holding a kitchen knife to [VICTIM #2] neck. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated she intervened and separated the two individuals. She further stated that after they were separated, Daniels threw the knives down and exited the residence through the front door.
While on scene, I observed a blue steak knife at the bottom of the stairs. Inside the kitchen, I observed burnt debris and damage to the south wall, which showed clear signs of fire damage. I also observed a burnt cardboard clothing tag on the stove. The kitchen table appeared to have been moved, with chairs knocked over. A computer monitor was located face down on the kitchen floor with a visible cut on the back, consistent with being struck by a knife. Ptl. Estrada documented the scene with photographs.
[VICTIM #1] advised she had video footage showing Daniels letting air out of her vehicle tires. I reviewed the footage and observed Daniels pressing on the valve steal to release air from the tires. During the video, [VICTIM #1] asked Daniels why he was doing this. Daniels responded that it was because she had previously slashed his tires, to which [VICTIM #1] stated she had slashed her own tires. Daniels then stated, “I hope all of you all die tonight, bit*h.” The remainder of the audio was unclear due to both parties speaking over one another.
Ptl. Conley transported Daniels to the Dougherty County Jail without incident. A booking card was completed in reference to this incident. Inv. Well responded to the scene, and the investigation was turned over to her. Sgt. Dorrniny and Lt. Diaz also responded to the scene. The knife and burnt cardboard were collected as evidence and placed into Property Management Locker 02 along with the photographs and video evidence.
This case is cleared by arrest.
