On 09-21-2025, I responded in normal patrol mode to the 300 block of Cordele Rd in reference to an Accident Hit and Run.
Upon arrival, I made contact with a Hispanic male who identified himself as [VICTIM #1]. [VICTIM #1] stated he is a truck driver and he decided to ride his bicycle while he was stopped at 310 Cordele Rd (Pilot). [VICTIM #1] stated that he was stopped at the red light at Cordele Rd/Clark Ave facing southbound in the right lane. [VICTIM #1] stated that while he was sitting at the light, a white in color Chevrolet Malibu (GA Tag [REDACTED]) pulled up behind him and began to honk the horn. [VICTIM #1] stated when the light turned green, the vehicle then struck him from behind.
[VICTIM #1] stated the vehicle pulled up beside him and the driver began to yell at him. [VICTIM #1] had a video of the yelling however I could not understand what the driver was yelling however he didn’t sound friendly. [VICTIM #1] stated the male then left the scene without attempting to leave any information. I was able to get a photograph of the driver from the video of the incident. A NCIC/GCIC computer check on the vehicle yielded valid registration and valid insurance. The vehicle was registered to a W/F [REDACTED].
I attempted contact with [REDACTED] at [REDACTED] which yielded negative results. I then identified the driver of the vehicle as Rodney Evans due to a recent citation that he received in this vehicle for Open Container of Alcohol. A NCIC/GCIC computer check on Evans yielded his license were expired 07-14-2025. I attempted contact with Evans at [REDACTED] which yielded negative results.
I placed the vehicle’s tag [REDACTED] in FLOCK and noticed that the vehicle hit at device #32 (Clark Ave/ Hwy 19) going westbound at 1156 hrs when the accident occurred at approximately 1143 hrs. The vehicle hit on FLOCK 10 more times throughout the day and I attempted to locate the vehicle so I could make contact with the driver however I was never near the locations that the driver hit on FLOCK. The photographs were logged into locker 02 in Property Management at 201 W Oglethorpe Blvd.
[VICTIM #1] was riding a black/yellow Cadex 2 bicycle (SR #[REDACTED]) at the time of the accident. [VICTIM #1]’s bicycle had damage to the rear wheel and tire and was completely disabled. [VICTIM #1] had to carry the bicycle back to his truck due to the wheel being bent. I sent an email to RTIC in reference to receiving the video footage from the condor camera at this intersection. A follow-up will be completed on a later date.
A NCIC/GCIC computer check was completed on all parties which yielded negative results.
