[NARRATIVE #1 on November 07, 2025]
On 11/07/2025 at approx. 2204 hours, Ptl. Harris, responded in normal patrol mode to the intersection of W Oakridge D/ Habersham Rd in reference to an auto accident.
Upon arrival, I observed a white in color Nissan Sentra displaying Ga Tag [REDACTED] that collided with a light pole on Habersham Rd. I looked inside of the vehicle and did not see anyone inside. I noticed that the air bag had been deployed in the steering wheel. I observed the front end to be damaged from colliding with the light pole.
I ran the vehicle through GCIC/NCIC check on the vehicle and it came back to a female named Shannon Williams. I located 2 phone numbers and called them both. The first number, [REDACTED], went straight to voicemail. I called the second number, [REDACTED], and someone picked up, but hung up the phone when I attempted to announce myself.
I then called for the next non-preference to come and tow the vehicle. Junior’s Wrecker was called and they towed the vehicle. I spoke with a male (unknown name) that stated as he was driving by, he saw a female get out of the vehicle and into a truck and drove off. The male stated he did not get a good look at the female to give a description. The male stated the truck went east on W Oakridge Dr.
At approx. 2354 hours, Dispatch received a call from Williams and she said that someone stole her vehicle from [REDACTED]. Dispatch advised Williams was at [300 BLOCK] Slater King Dr Apt [REDACTED]. Ptl. Slankard and I went to the location to make contact with Williams, but she did not answer the door. I asked Dispatch if they could get in contact with Williams and they advised it was negative contact X3.
As we prepared to leave, Ptl. Slankard and I heard arguing in the complex, but could not determine where it was coming from. Once I got back into my patrol vehicle, I called Williams back on her cellphone and she answered. Williams stated she was at her residence and she was waiting to make contact with police. Ptl. Slankard and I went back to her residence and made contact with Williams.
Williams stated someone had stolen her vehicle. Williams stated she last saw her vehicle around 1700 hours. Williams stated she did not let anyone borrow her vehicle. While I was asking her questions, a male, who was later identified as [VICTIM #1], walked up to us and started yelling “why you over there lying Shan? Tell them how you just wrecked your car and left them kids in the house. Tell them how you just broke the handle off my car too!” I advised Ptl. Slankard to stand with Williams while I spoke with [VICTIM #1]. Ptl. Slankard stood by and spoke with Williams.
I spoke with [VICTIM #1] and asked him what was he referring to when he said she wrecked her vehicle and he said that Williams called him around 2210 hours and told him. [VICTIM #1] showed me the call log which showed Williams, with the same number that called Dispatch, called him approx. 10 times. [VICTIM #1] stated Williams was trying to follow him around and that was how she ended up wrecking her vehicle.
[VICTIM #1] stated Williams did not have her children inside of the vehicle and left them inside of the residence asleep by themselves. I asked [VICTIM #1] how did he know that they were inside by themselves and he said this is not the first time Williams left them alone. I then asked further details pertaining to [VICTIM #1]’s vehicle.
I went back and made contact with Williams and asked her again about her vehicle and she admitted that she crashed her car, I asked Williams where were her children when she crashed her vehicle and she said she left them inside of the house. I asked Williams if there was anyone inside of the residence and she said no. I asked Williams why did she leave them and she said she was “chasing after [VICTIM #1]”.
Williams then started talking about how [VICTIM #1] was not supposed to be in Slater King Apartments and they have multiple cases together and how they never get along. I asked Williams how old were her children and she said [REDACTED BY AGENCY] is 5 years old, [REDACTED BY AGENCY] is 5 years old, and [REDACTED BY AGENCY] is 2 years old.
I asked Williams if she could call someone to come and get her children and she said yes. Williams tried several people, but no one answered the phone. I asked Williams if she felt comfortable if [VICTIM #1] took possession of the children and she said yes. I asked [VICTIM #1] if he was comfortable with the children going with him and he said yes. Williams woke up her children, got them dressed, and sent them with [VICTIM #1].
Once the children left, I placed Williams in double-locked handcuffs to the rear and searched her incident to arrest. The search yielded negative results for any weapons or illegal contraband. Williams was placed in the rear of my patrol vehicle, car 18-198. Williams had a purse with her and I searched it before placing it in the trunk. I located Williams’ car keys in her purse. Williams also stated she wanted to give the house key to [VICTIM #1] so he could come back and get the children’s clothes. The key was turned over to [VICTIM #1].
An arrest booking card was completed prior to my arrival at the jail. Williams was complaining of pain on the front of her leg that occurred with the accident. Williams was placed in a safety belt. Williams was then transported to the Dougherty County Jail.
Upon arrival at the jail, my weapon was placed in the trunk of my patrol vehicle. Williams was escorted into the jail and accepted without incident. A search of the rear of my patrol vehicle was conducted before and after the transport. The search yielded negative results for any weapons or illegal contraband. A GCIC/NCIC check was conducted on all parties and they were negative for any wants/warrants.
Warrant 25-015289-01APD was taken against Shannon Williams for False Report of a Crime. 25-015289-02APD was taken against Shannon Williams for Failure to Maintain Lane. Warrant 25-015289-03APD was taken against Shannon Williams for Hit & Run. Warrants 25-015289-04APD, 25-015289-O5APD, and 25-015289-06APD were taken against Shannon Williams for Reckless Conduct.
This case has been cleared by arrest.
