I responded in normal patrol mode to [1600 BLOCK] Sunny Ln in reference to family violence. Upon arrival I made contact with a black male identified as [WITNESS #1]. [WITNESS #1] stated that his girlfriend’s mother, Tamera Ward, took $10 from his dresser.
[WITNESS #1] reported that he and his girlfriend, [REDACTED], left the residence the previous night following an argument with Tamera. He advised that he had left $10 on his dresser and discovered the money missing upon returning to the residence the following morning. [WITNESS #1] stated that Tamera admitted to taking the $10. He further stated that while backing his vehicle out of the driveway, Tamera threw an unknown object at his windshield because she was upset that he wanted the money returned.
Contact was made with Tamera Ward, who confirmed she took the money from the room but claimed she had asked [REDACTED] for $5. According to Tamera, [REDACTED] gave her permission, and she assumed the money on the dresser was intended for her. Tamera stated she would return the money to [REDACTED] but not to [WITNESS #1].
Tamera acknowledged that she became upset and was yelling at [WITNESS #1] as he was backing out of the driveway but denied throwing anything at his vehicle.
This incident was determined not to be domestic in nature, as [WITNESS #1] had only been residing at the residence for four days and had no prior history of living with Tamera. Observation of [WITNESS #1]’ vehicle revealed a cracked windshield; however, [WITNESS #1] stated the damage was old. He pointed out a smear on the windshield, but the vehicle was parked under several large trees.
To prevent further conflict, [WITNESS #1] was advised to remove some of his belongings while Tamera remained outside. Tamera was informed that, as [REDACTED]’s residence, she could choose to allow or deny [WITNESS #1] entry as a guest.
While [WITNESS #1] was removing his belongings, Tamera became agitated and began yelling profanities, stating, “You’re trespassing,” and accusing him of theft. Tamera held a “Private Property” sign above her head while continuing to shout. She then stood in the roadway, obstructing traffic, causing multiple vehicles to stop. A neighbor across the street came outside and stated that this behavior was typical of Tamera.
Tamera then entered the residence, shoved [WITNESS #1], and attempted to prevent him from retrieving his clothing. She was placed in double-locked handcuffs behind her back without incident and secured in the rear passenger seat of the patrol vehicle.
Tamera was transported to the Dougherty County Jail and booked on a Misdemeanor Citation for Disorderly Conduct (Citation #BB002248). Prior to entering the facility, the service firearm was secured in the trunk of the patrol vehicle. Tamera was turned over to jail staff without incident.
After exiting the facility, the service firearm was retrieved, and a search of the rear passenger compartment of the patrol vehicle was conducted, yielding negative results for weapons or contraband.
This case is cleared by arrest.
