On today (03.15.2026) I responded in normal patrol mode to [800 BLOCK] 16th Ave in reference to a suspicious auto.

Upon arrival, I made contact with [WITNESS #1], who was standing near the roadway. [WITNESS #1] stated that while standing near his backyard, he observed a young Black male running from the 900 block of 17th Ave. [WITNESS #1] stated that following the male subject was a white Dodge pickup truck. [WITNESS #1] stated the male subject appeared to be running from the driver of the truck.

He further stated that the male subject ran through his front yard and the truck followed, causing damage to his grass. [WITNESS #1] stated the male subject continued running south on Lamar St toward 15th Ave and was struck by the Dodge pickup truck. [WITNESS #1] stated he then got into his vehicle and followed the Dodge pickup in an attempt to obtain the vehicle’s tag number. [WITNESS #1] stated he drove past [900 BLOCK] 17th Ave and observed the vehicle parked in the front yard.

[WITNESS #1] stated he provided the tag number [REDACTED] to dispatch and told the driver he was calling the police. [WITNESS #1] further stated a female neighbor advised him that both subjects were fighting in the front yard. While speaking with [WITNESS #1], he observed the male subject who had been struck by the truck walking north on Lamar St. I instructed the male subject to come toward me, at which time he turned around and began walking in the opposite direction.

I made contact with the male subject in the 2200 block of Lamar St. The male subject was later identified as 18-year-old [VICTIM #1]. I asked [VICTIM #1] what had occurred. [VICTIM #1] stated his mother’s boyfriend had been involved in an altercation with him. [VICTIM #1] stated he was in the bathroom blow-drying his hair. He stated he walked into the kitchen when his mother’s boyfriend began provoking him.

I asked [VICTIM #1] for his mother’s boyfriend’s name, and he identified him as Travis Dawson. I asked [VICTIM #1] how Dawson was provoking him, and [VICTIM #1] stated Dawson was trying to get him to fight. [VICTIM #1] stated Dawson said, “You want to hit or you want to fight?” [VICTIM #1] stated he did not respond, and Dawson then stated, “You better say something before I start swinging.” [VICTIM #1] stated they went outside and began fighting.

[VICTIM #1] stated that after the fight was over, he ran away and Dawson began chasing him in his truck. [VICTIM #1] stated he ran through the neighbor’s yard to get away from Dawson, but Dawson continued following him. [VICTIM #1] stated that while he was running south on Lamar St, Dawson struck him with the truck and then left the scene. I asked [VICTIM #1] if he and Dawson had been involved in previous altercations, and he stated they had not. [VICTIM #1] stated Dawson is very controlling in his mother’s house. I asked [VICTIM #1] if Dawson had ever struck his mother, and he stated no.

[VICTIM #1] was transported to Phoebe Main (417 W 3rd Ave) by Med 7 for medical evaluation.

I then made contact with [WITNESS #2]. I asked [WITNESS #2] if she witnessed the incident between [VICTIM #1] and Dawson, and she stated she did not. [WITNESS #2] stated she was sitting in her car when she observed [VICTIM #1] walking around. [WITNESS #2] stated she approached [VICTIM #1], and he asked her to retrieve his clothes and phone from his mother’s house. [WITNESS #2] stated she went to her sister’s residence, at which time Dawson walked outside and acted as if he wanted to strike her.

[WITNESS #2] stated she advised Dawson she was only there to retrieve [VICTIM #1]’s belongings, at which time Dawson began yelling and cursing at her. [WITNESS #2] stated Dawson continued to get in her face until her sister told her to leave. I asked [WITNESS #2] if Dawson struck her, and she stated no. [WITNESS #2] advised that when she drove by the residence again, Dawson’s white pickup truck was no longer at the location. She stated Dawson usually parks the vehicle in the front yard.

While on scene, I was approached by [VICTIM #1]’s mother, [WITNESS #3]. I asked [WITNESS #3] if she witnessed the incident between her son and Dawson, and she stated she did not. [WITNESS #3] stated she had been asleep during the incident but heard arguing. [WITNESS #3] stated she went outside and observed [VICTIM #1] and Dawson about to fight.

[WITNESS #3] stated she told [VICTIM #1] to come inside the house and get ready for work, but he refused. [WITNESS #3] stated she went back inside the residence to get her other children. When she returned outside, both [VICTIM #1] and Dawson were gone. [WITNESS #3] stated she then observed [VICTIM #1] running. I asked [WITNESS #3] if there had been prior conflicts between [VICTIM #1] and Dawson, and she stated there had not and that this was the first incident.

I, along with assisting officers, responded to [900 BLOCK] 17th Ave to make contact with Travis Dawson. Upon arrival, no vehicles were present. I observed a Blink doorbell camera and another camera located on the east side of the residence. While checking the premises, a silver Chevrolet Tahoe pulled into the driveway. I identified the driver as Travis Dawson. I advised Dawson that we needed to speak with him regarding the incident involving [VICTIM #1].

Dawson stated [VICTIM #1] had been blow-drying his hair in the kitchen. Dawson stated he had already been having issues with the sink plumbing and told [VICTIM #1] to blow-dry his hair in the bathroom instead. Dawson stated [VICTIM #1] began cursing at him and calling him foul names. Dawson stated he told [WITNESS #3] to get her son, but [VICTIM #1] stated, “So what you want to do about it?” Dawson stated he again told [WITNESS #3] to get her son, but she did not.

Dawson stated he walked outside and [VICTIM #1] put on his shoes and followed him. Dawson stated they squared up to fight on the porch and then moved toward the roadway. Dawson stated [VICTIM #1] punched him in the face three times and then ran. Dawson stated he was older and unable to chase [VICTIM #1] on foot, so he got into his truck and pursued him. Dawson stated [VICTIM #1] ran through the neighbor’s yard at [800 BLOCK] 16th Ave and continued running. Dawson stated [VICTIM #1] then fell, got up, and ran to his grandmother’s residence located at [800 BLOCK] 15th Ave.

I asked Dawson if he struck [VICTIM #1] with the truck, and he stated he did not. Dawson advised [WITNESS #3] witnessed the entire incident and asked her questions as if attempting to coach her responses. I advised Dawson that I had received a different statement from [WITNESS #3]. Dawson advised me to speak with the neighbor [WITNESS #1], stating he had witnessed the incident as well. I advised Dawson I had already spoken with [WITNESS #1] and that I was speaking with him at that time. Dawson stated he had nothing to hide and that he was telling the truth.

I asked Dawson if I could view the surveillance footage from the residence. Dawson stated the incident was not captured because the camera system was not armed. I asked Dawson why he was currently driving a different vehicle. Dawson stated he had taken his Dodge pickup truck to Lee County to a male friend’s house. Dawson made a spontaneous statement regarding police using Flock cameras to track vehicles.

Dawson was placed in double-locked handcuffs behind his back, searched incident to arrest, and secured in the rear of my patrol vehicle. Dawson was transported to the Law Enforcement Center (201 W Oglethorpe Blvd) to be interviewed by Detective Beal.

This case was cleared by arrest.
