On April 23rd, 2025, I, Deputy C. Long, Badge #297 was dispatched to assist EMS at 1400 Lee Road, Lithia Springs, Georgia, 30122 (Waffle House). Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch advised that a male subject, identified as William Douglas Maye had fallen in front of Waffle House and appeared to be intoxicated.

Upon arrival, I met with [REDACTED BY AGENCY] and was advised that William had denied any [REDACTED BY AGENCY] I then approached William as he was laying on the ground, and asked him if he would like to be checked [REDACTED BY AGENCY] William denied, while speaking incoherently using slurred speech. William also denied [REDACTED BY AGENCY] I advised William that he needed to leave the property. William stood up and stated that he “had to sh*t”. While in view from a public roadway, William pulled his pants down and proceeded to defecate on the grass area between the parking lot and sidewalk.

I then helped William pull his pants up, and placed him in handcuffs. I escorted William to my Patrol vehicle, and placed him in the rear seat. I advised William that he was being arrested for Public Indecency, and read his Miranda rights verbally. I then began transport to The Douglas County Jail at approximately 2:25 PM, arriving at approximately 2:33 PM. William was escorted into the booking area where he was [REDACTED BY AGENCY] William’s property was passed along, and he was transferred to the custody of Jail staff.

I then returned to patrol duties.
